Wet weather ability

I'm curious to know how others feel about the wet weather ability of the FL2.

The last few weeks have been interesting when it's been raining (mostly dry then wet, so maybe a bit greasy). Going round tighter corners and the front feels a bit floaty, push it too much and a little bit of four-wheel slide develops, then it grips and oversteers. Tried it on a longer easier (open) corner on the way home today, bit of power on halfway round and started heading for the verge Laughing
It's fairly predictable but the bit when it grips can cause a bit of excitement. Due to get some new rubber in the near future, will see if this makes a difference. Anybody else had the whole car drifting?

Tyres - Hankook DynaPro HP, about 5mm front and 4mm rear.

In the dry they are very good, little bit of flex but that's just the size of the sidewalls (17" wheels). Can drive just about the same rate as my last Focus hatch.

The car is dictating the pace, and I do drive slower. When driving in rain or on a wet road the FL2 will lose the feeling in the front wheels so it doesn't feel great, and this at a much lower speed than my prevous car. Even in torrential rain the Focus had very good feedback from the steering and wouldn't be provoked into a slide.

How's the tyre pressure? Contrary to intuition, more pressure in your tyres is better on hard (tar) surfaces when they are wet. Not so on broken, sandy or muddy surfaces though, less pressure gives better traction for those.

Its not a versus i'm talking about though. I'm well aware of the different requirements of the two.
The Focus gave good feeling all the time. The FL2 doesn't in wet weather, and i'm talking at around 15mph round some twisty corners on my commute.
Gotta love forums...

that does sound pretty poor - methinks I will avoid Hankooks when the time comes to re-shoe mine!

I have the Continental Contacts my car came with and have had nothing like your experiences, in fact been quite pleasantly surprised by the cars handling in dry and wet though the Continentals are by no means the best out there.

Sounds like the tyres to me. Just spent the week in Argyle. Wet most days. The standard Wranglers performed well both on the fast smooth roads and the narrower twisty bits. Good feel all round and kept up well with the mad locals.

Hello all. Just to say that 12 months ago I fitted General Grabber UHP. I have found these tyres to be very good in all conditions and wear very well.
I think these may have been superseded, but if you can find them I would highly recommend. still Trying !
