Had a play on a farm track today. nothing challenging but quite a lot of muddy puddles in the road I needed to avoid (The fl2 is for keeping clean ) . Initially I thought 1st gear was too high a ratio as keeping a constant slow speed was difficult, every bounce in the road moved my foot slightly and caused a surge or dip in my forward speed.

Yes, its great how mud and ruts reduces the sensitivity of the gas pedal. But would also point out the anti stall too, let the car go in first gear then take feet of everything it will make steady progress at about 3 mph up hill and down dale! |

That's possibly why the screen said hill descent unavailable in mud ruts mode. As soon as my car goes in to dealers and I get a courtesy car for a day I will learn a lot more about the fl2's mud-plugging etc abilities. Or maybe in mine when its a a bit older (and Mrs G isn't looking ) At work At home "I can't always believe facts I read on the web" - Charles Dickens winner by default of the tractor vs caravan race Last edited by chicken george on 5th May 2008 10:08 pm. Why do you say that that HDC is not available in Mud and Ruts? I've not seen anything in the handbook suggesting that HDC is not working/or cannot be selected in M&R FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER |

The HDC only works in first gear on manual box so maybe you went second or two fast as it engages only at speed up to 50 Km/hour FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER |

M&R mode automatically switches on HDC, it displays a mgs saying not available in this gear if your change up, and also turns off when you go too fast, then switches back on when you slow/change gear to 1st Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

And if you have an automatic gearbox and you use mud and ruts you have to use the command shift gearbox mode. |

Also if the TR programmes are the same as other modern Land Rovers then with the auto box it should pull away in 2nd not 1st. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
