If you are a bit computer savvy you don't need to buy a whole update, providing you use the same mapping system, buy a cheap satnav, upload the program to your PC, connect the PC to the car satnav USB interrogate the program find the file you want to modify remove to a PC new folder, then replace with the updated file from the cheap satnav program, if it doesn't work you can put the old one back, same should work with the pre 2013 models by uploading the disc modifying and then copying to a blank disc. This is not illegal as you have bought the map, you just want to move part of it elsewhere. Use any satnav with cheap lifetime updates of the same map supplier my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Sorry if a silly question...but how do you get the existing CD/DVD out of the Sat Nav in the car in the first place?

You get three discs with the car if it is pre 2013 MY, one is in the player under the drivers seat, very pre historic. If MY 2013 there is no disc it's in a built in memory and accessed via a USB cable from what I have gathered. You get free updates when pigs fly my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Just picked the car up after window regulator was sorted and new Sat Nav discs. They are 2013/14, not had time to check it out yet. |
