ccsnet - brilliant link thank you. And I couldn't agree more with the writers sentiments.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Just for my 2 pence.... stopped watching it a while back for the reasons stated on that post.... nothing new as such.

Thats not to say it is a bad show but here in the Uk I think its had its time.

I still see it on Dave during the day in the back ground but that is about it.

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Lago Grey

The thing is, they still do some good stuff, and whilst the signal to noise ratio is getting steadily worse I still watch it for the good bits. The trip through Spain, for example, looking at the effects of the financial crisis there was the highlight of the series so far for me. (Possibly the only highlight so far of this series, but it's been worth watching just for that!)

One thing the caravan item did get me thinking about, though, was LR's positioning of the FL2 in the market. The FL2 seems to be seen as just another crossover (hence its appearance in the item), whilst cars like the X-Trail and Forester (which didn't feature) seem to be seen as more serious 4x4s. Yet in terms of ability the FL2 is the most serious 4x4 of the lot by some way. So why is it seen as a crossover whilst the X-Trail and Forester aren't? Surely it competes more with them then the likes of the cars in TG's vanning test - it shouldn't have been there.

It's partly due to LR's advertising of course (buy an FL2 and you'll be able to drive home from the supermarket in the rain! How about that, eh?), but is this clever positioning by LR (crossover segment is bigger), or are they selling the FL2 short? Should they be showcasing what it can really do? It's a far better 4x4 than it's given credit for, and deserves better imo...

xtrail and forester are more cross over than any other, forester is just a car with a high roof, x trail is just a box At work

Must admit I liked Hammond in the RR, but the last part of the show with the Great British music was awesome! Its a shame we don't have more people/companies singing the praise of the British! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
Gone MY2010 Freelander 2 Manual TD4.e S, Alaska White.

Fantastic! Best Top Gear for ages. Informative, interesting content well presented and enjoyable. What a pleasant change from the rubbish that preceded it in this series. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
Tricia's - 2006 Royal Blue Beetle Cabriolet Auto
Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
