Hello all

I'm not so much a new arrival as a returnee. In 2009 I had a new Baltic Blue GS as my primary car, before joining a company car scheme which provides a new Mercedes every year. Since then, I've had assorted Discoverys as my second car, most recently an early D3, and have been a member of the Disco3 forum. I recently decided that a) I was only using the Disco's full potential for a tiny part of the time and b) I could find better things to do with the money I was spending on repairs.

So now, my second car is a 44,000 mile, one owner 2007 Stornoway Grey SE manual, with blue half-leather interior and a few options including sun roof. And two years of Land Rover Approved Used warranty. With that, and an extra 10mpg, hopefully I might save enough cash to spend a bit on my bikes.

I got the Land Rover bug whilst in the Army in Malta and Libya, we travelled everywhere in them.(sand coloured Series 2s). It was a long time before I got myself a series 3 , about 2 years ago, (Some pictures in Gallery Section) and kitted it out with Clansman Radios, all of which work, This is the hobby, I am a Radio Ham!(Callsign GØGNE). I had an AUDI allroad as well back then, very nice it was too, and very competent in the Snow. I changed to an A4 Teknik saloon, it was great, but too snappy for me, Then we got the Dog(see Avatar). She definitely needed an estate and here was my chance! I found a nice looking SD4 HSE in Green at Harwoods of Pulborough online. It turns out that Harwoods dispose of Land Rover owned Ex Royal Household Vehicles and it was one of them. there is a good pic of Prince Philip driving one! So please doff your hat as I go by. Interesting to here that your FL2 has been driven by royalty. I have visited Harwoods Pulborough, but I bought my FL2 at Hunters Guildford. Looking forward to some pictures of your new toy.

Looking forward to be able to keep in touch with other Freelander owners. Bought a Freelander to pull my new caravan. After 5 years changed to a Freelander 2, much better vehicle. Tows great and with a much improved turning circle able to easily reverse the caravan into tight spaces. I have had problems with the differential particle filter sensor though. The first time on the M6 with the caravan causing me to limp to the next services doing no more than 40mph. Also had problems with the Bluetooth. Anyway both problems sorted under warranty though very frustrating at the time. I'm now experiencing power fluctuations which are very noticeable when accelerating away after a slowing/breaking/gear change event. It is as if one or two cylinders miss fire once and then it is fine. As my local dealer is no more I am hoping to see if others have had similar problems or ideas before I take it 40 miles to my nearest main dealer.
Anyway I've had a quick look at the postings and see there are some interesting thoughts on the Satnav and reversing cameras which I also have thoughts on.

new member, just picked up the car today, replacing a 2011 Honda CRV Ex diesel, which was really good in every way other than it struggled a bit with the caravan, specifically on long uphill stretches, so the extra torque from the TD4 should make things easier! . Have read a lot of the topics on the forum and hope to join in with some of the chat and pick up useful tips from others.
