Is there an aftermarket key fob recharger

One of my key fobs doesn't work.
I left it unused more than a month, then it wouldn't start the car.
Total time it's not been in use is now about three months.
(I didn't like to put it in the car's key-dock in case I couldn't get it out again!).

I read posts on here, interesting - if I understand right the battery may now be completely flat.
If the battery is knackered I will try splitting the case and replacing the battery (as per simont).

I'd also be interested to try induction-loop charging (as per Mona Geeza, 27.11.12 - toothbrush charger).
I'm wondering if the recharge dock for a wireless mouse would do it?
Voltage-sensitive? ... how to know what induction-charge household gadget would do the trick properly?

But ... this must be a typical problem for thousands and thousands of Freelander 2 owners.
Isn't there a commercially-available aftermarket Freelander 2 key-fob charger?? The quick brown fox

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Tonga Green

Thumbs Up worked for me and it's still working some 2 years later...

I've arranged my keys into 2 bunches:

1) The full bunch with all the keys I need for work etc... + car fob 1
2) The minimum set with just my house door key and car fob 2

I now take the appropriate set of keys with me so both are being used - often both in the course of a day... 2002 Honda VFR800

Any other ideas for recharge of the car, with the car not used for a time I have to use the key on the passanger side the place the key in the dock.it starts then I leave it running to charge the key.there must be a way of making a charging station.

No idea if it will work but how about leaving the fob next to a wireless phone or toothbrush charger!

That's not going to work.

Buy a new battery, it is past it's use by date & solder in the new one, assuming that you have the older remote. I'm not sure what size that remote has, have a look here: https://uk.rs-online.com/mobile/c/batterie...batteries/ Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Somewhat similar technique here. Two keys, no other keys on the fob.

On the fob one key has label 1, the other is labelled 2.

Key 1 used on days with an odd date, key 2 used on even dates.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Bali Blue

Two sets of ket fobs, one for everydayday use and the other for'just in case'. The everyday one was renovated by the forum member (RRLUK??) used by many other members, mainly because the case was in a bit of a mess. The second one remains on the key hook for months on end. If I remember I'll use it on longish trips for a recharge but it seems OK if left for long periods. With my other FL2 I did swap the keys around on a regular basis. 11 GS Bali Blue
07 GS FL2. Usually muddy. Gone
Numerous LRs since 1963
