England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Auto Sumatra Black

i'm a complete novice really, I love my FL2 and every month I vac it out (wife and child make all the mess!!) and every two week's I wash the out side. I'm using an old car care kit (from a company called Scotts, Vauxhall supplied) that I got with a car about 5 years ago. I must admit i'm enjoying wiping the dash and making it look new , going around the black trim on the outside and making it look new again etc.

I've got a couple of questions, do you soak your car first then apply a pre wash? Like wise, ive got some astonish tar remover. Is it better to soak the car first, then apply, then wash off?

I'm looking at buying some new stuff for cleaning can anyone recommend any kits? Ones that come with the shampoo, tyre cleaner, wax etc?

I use the two bucket method with a power washer. Must admit I see pictures of cars on here and they look excellent! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

What's the products in the care kit ?

I started out as a novice my self... best thing to do is sign up to detailing world and look at all the walk throughs.

So much you can learn I don't know sure else to start learning other than search YouTube for detailing?

The products are here

http://www.scottstrading.com/shop.aspx

I bought a car in 2008 and they talked me into getting a bag with dash cleaner, shampoo, polish, glass cleaner, tyre black, wheel cleaner and upholstery cleaner. Must admit only just started using it. Ive seen on amazon an Autoglym kit for 35 quid. I might get that.

Your right, Youtube is a good source of information. I'll have a look at detailing world! Thumbs Up Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

if you want good stuff available at most places then AutoGlym

If you don't mind paying a little P&P then check out polished Bliss or Clean Your Car, both sell good tested by themselves products, which might cost a little more, but then they do the job you would expect

i'm a sucker for buying the latest talked about stuff and have a few things, some which i got rid of last year or so as i never used them. try stick with one thing and keep to it, (unlike me) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I got the freely in December last year and had a few products, I'm now up to 3 large plastic crates and a dual action machine polisher.

I use all sorts of things for different jobs!! Best things to start with are a decent shampoo, swirl remover polish/glaze and a wax. 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

I can see me investing in the kit on payday, yet more to add to the collection, do like the look of the Werkstat though. 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

That made me feel better...I'm only up to one big plastic crate, and a smaller one I keep in the car Smile

Though I've only had my FL2 about 3 months...

Here's today's wheel cleaning. Using muc-off wheel cleaner, foaming tyre cleaner, wolfs chemicals de-ironiser and autosmart tardis! They were then sealed with Auto Glym aerosol wheel sealant.

The purpleyness is the wolfs spray working against brake deposits and other hard to shift marks;

All hints of baked on brake dust and tar gone, look like new. About 15-20 mins per wheel but will be another 6 months or so before this level of cleaning again!!

I had a play with some 303 aerospace on a Mini ONE engine bay too......fantastic results for a wipe on/off job!!

Thumbs Up

Are these wheel cleaners as good as they seem on youtube, i.e. spray on, dwell, power wash off and then nice and clean or is there a bit more work to it?
