First - for those who don't know about this....

I first this some time ago and having looked at and researched the product came to the conclusion theres some science to it and its not 'snake oil'

My car has 71k on the clock the the time of writing so I thought why not. Also as a side note it has also got a full LR history including at least one engine flush.

Mpg wise and on summer diesel I seem to get 32.4-33 which the bench mark I will keep coming back to although it may take a while to level off as my computer reset it self the other day.

From picking the car up I can say it feels smother with a touch more power.

So I will update this thread as to how I get on but in the mean time if you have any questions fire away.....

The view on the A2OC forum is that snake oil is exactly what it is.... absolutely no benefits whatsoever from those who tried it. Better off giving your car an Italian tune up for the price of a gallon or 2 of diesel. eh tu?

Well as I got a discount I dont think its too bad - especially as I think its cured some smoking.

The rest is to be seen.

In all probability a good blast down the motorway, use of premium brand fuel, K & N airfilter and best quality engine oil in the sump would almost certainly achieve the same result. I have driven an average of 20k+ miles for each of the last 26 years of diesel motoring all in my own cars of which there have been over 30 of various brands many with 100k+ miles on the clock. I have only once changed injectors - on a Passat which had a bit of a knock on one of the injectors. My A2 has been with me for 100k miles now and having also used 2SO for the past year + am also convinced its use is beneficial in reducing smoke amongst other attributes (see seperate long thread with my comments on the last page or 2). What i would recommend investigating is cleaning the MAF, these can be a real pain on some diesels, Beemers in particular. eh tu?

Problem is that (dark/black) smoke from a diesel engine is caused by poor combustion, and on the common rail fuel system, that probably means wear on the high pressure fuel pump. That results in the pump discharging fuel to the injectors at a lower pressure than that designed for. In turn, this means more fuel being demanded than is necessary for complete combustion, especially when accelerating hard, with unburnt or partially burnt fuel being exhausted from the engine, causing the smoke.
To prevent this expensive damage, it is advisable to lubricate the hp fuel pump (and associated equipment) by adding approximately 300ml of 2SO to a nearly empty tank (giving about a 200:1 mixture) from when the engine is new, or fairly new. Adding 2SO to an engine that is already emitting dark smoke will not cure any worn parts.

So I've had it done about a month now and I have done lots of local mileage ( some how I've managed to avoid my motorway jaunts this month ) and I can say first of all - the MPG clock is pants in the LR.... after resetting its only just settling down but still changing. The good bit about this is I can see a true 'town' MPG ( currently 31mpg ) which is not far off my 32mpg mixed.

Now I know some believe this may be snake oil but I do feel I am getting a little more mileage out of the car as tested by my wallet - I do think it is a lot smoother than before. I can say this as I have been driving around with the windows down and really paying attention.

So - is it worth it.... well so far for me I would say so - I have a better car than I bought and I feel this will have done a better job than a flush ( which this car has had before ). I can not wait to be back on the Mway and see what I get there.

While I'm on that... as a Mway user ( over fair distance ) I can say its running better than a good run. While I do not dispute what that can do for an engine as I do make a point of regular runs as a rule but Terraclean feels more touquey/smooth that that. An example is that I am finding 1st to 2nd a bit easier......

OK - prob my last update as theres not been much feed back on here but I just want to add some feed back on Mway miles ( done a few hundred today ).

Before the Terraclean I was getting about 32mpg - Today I was hitting 34.4mpg and boy could I tell she was a happier drive.

I managed to hit at one point 35mpg which for an 07 I was pretty pleased with even if it did not last long ( my right foot kept going down )

To put the above in context - yet again my car was reset as it spent most of the week in the garage in bits getting leaks etc sorted so I know this is a true reading.

I could add a 'mixed' comment but I think that will be between 32 and 35mpg

For me I think the process has been worth it and I'd probably consider it in the future.

Thanks for the updates on how you've found things since having your car terracleaned.
I'm pretty interested and have been thinking about getting my old Porsche done.
