Ok Guys,

I had 2 keys for my FR2 untill the other day,been shopping came out and my key fob no longer works

Now yes I've done the normal thing swap them around so they get charge,but I have been told i need to do some milage to charge them up..not the short trips..

So if I do this will it bring the key back or is it dead ?

Asked LR the same question about taking it for long drives and said it wouldn't make any difference,once the fobs are dead there dead
Got a second opinion and got the same answer
ended up getting 2 new fobs - good thing was my freely is still under guarantee so the dealer paid for em

Ive seen something on the net about charging smart phones. I AM NOT SUGGESTING ANYONE DOES OR TRY THIS!!. But some people swear blind that putting their smart phone in the microwave for 30 seconds recharges the phone. If this did work, would the same be true for a key fob? Or would it more likely blow up or set on fire?? One there for the electrical experts on here!! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

The fob does not have a battery in it. It's a capacitor, which stores a charge produced when it is inserted into the dashboard slot.

Over time, the charge will dissipate, until it's plugged in again. garioch43

I used to put batteries on the hob to get my boom box working back in the 80s, if you heat a battery up you will get a little more life out of it, but I don't think its a long term thing BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

garioch43, are you saying that the battery that people have successfully replaced is really a capacitor!

Not done it myself, but I believe it's a rechargeable lithium cell, not a capacitor.
