Hi all
I know this has probably been covered before but my air con smells awful I've tried one of those aerosol type air con cleaners but if I don't use the aircon for a week or so the smell comes back any advice would be helpful

Run the car with the air con switched on and the heating up full for about 20 minutes, this will kill off the bacteria that builds up on the unit when not used. Then turn the air con to its lowest temperature for about 10- 15 minutes.

This should do the trick.

Dealer always told me never to switch off the air con and always have it switched on whether up high or low as this kills off the bacteria that builds up in the condensation on the unit.

It worked for me. Thumbs Up MY13- TD4 XS Mauritius Blue, Privacy glass, Cold climate pack, Tailgate spoiler, Armrest pack, LED signature, Body side mouldings, Full size spare and finally Mudflaps

Changing the pollen filter can sometimes help, as the little blighters like to hide and breed in there....

MY air con was smelling so I bought a can of Dettol Neutra Air air freshner 'Kills odour causing bacteria at the source' it says on the can. Got a small length of tube, placed one end of the tube in the centre open dash vents and the other end over the Dettol can nozzle and give it a good lengthy squirt. Done this a couple of times and no more nasty smells. Does the same job as most similar products on the market.
