Sticking door solenoid

Just privatly purchased freelander 2 XSe
Rear offside door lock is intermitent, sometimes does not unlock, sometimes does not lock.
Do I need to replace the solenoid is it a DIY job.
Also in one week of ownership the eco stop/start has only operated once, if I disconnect the battery will this reset it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Freelander ownership and the Forum.

With regards to Eco Stop/Start have a scan at this thread:

http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic15893.html

There are many factors which stop Eco Stop/Start from operating and these need to be discounted before going for a reset through disconnecting the battery, although it is a well know method of forcing the car to reboot.

As for the door lock problem, try this thread which covers front doors but might help.

http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic13544.html

For future reference the Search facility is quite good for finding answers to most questions and will save you from the inevitable friendly banter from long standing members when you ask a previously asked question for the umpteenth time.

Thanks

I think I will try to lubricate the solenoid and mechinism first, as you can see the lock on the inside trying to move but not quite making it.
Has anyone replaced the battery to cure stop/start system not working.

I disconnected my battery to reset the ecu. The Eco stop start worked briefly. I then charged my battery and the Eco stop start is working all the time now. I believe a new agm battery is expensive so try giving it a charge first, it's cheaper than a new battery! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Yes - it's got to be an AGM battery and they cost more!

Yeah I reckon an AGM battery is 160+ quid. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I think the door solenoid is sticking in mine now on the rear n/s door. If I press the open key on the fob twice I hear the door unlock but the door will not open. If I press the fob again then I can open the door with the handle. Strange. I wonder if the lock it self needs oiling?? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I have just charged the battery for a couple of hours.
Stop/start system now working again
sticking door soleniod started to work again but failed again after two or three times.
Maybe the battery needs replacing or alternator problem, will get it checked when I can get hold of a meter.
Perhaps I should have brought from dealer with warranty but the price was vastly different to a private buy.

Latest
After charging battery stop/start worked for one day, then would not work again.
Tested voltage = 12.1v
Apparently should be 12.8v
Took the plunge today a got new EXIDE AGM battery from eurocar parts with 25% off = £150
Thanks to Past master.

Fingers crossed it will keep working now, although I will probably end up turing it off.

Now I still have to fix the door soleniods

Sounds a daft question but have you oiled the latch on the problem door? A rear door on mine wouldn't always unlock, only a month out of warranty too. Anyway I oiled the latch as I could hear that the solenoid was moving and the door is fine now. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
