Israel 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Zermatt Silver

They were the same price from britpart. Your never gonna notice a performance of drilled discs on a freelancer. Solid disc brakes look gash IMHO!

I noticed a significant drop in MPG on my Fiesta 1.5 TDI training car when I had been filling up at Asda Crying or Very sad (its up to 3p litre cheaper) Smile . Then got a fuel card for the local BP garage so that I get the fuel at about the same price as Asda Very Happy . MPG has over the last 3 months has gradually risen from 48 to 54 per gallon. Win win I think Laughing . Everything is relative to my point of view

I wouldn't read too much into that. It's just as likely to have been caused by rising temperatures (engines burn more fuel when cold, and accessories such as heated screens and heater fans are used more). I tend to notice increased fuel consumption over the winter months without changing fuel buying habits.

The problem with subjective observations is that there are just too many variables. Tests need to be done under laboratory conditions before one can really place any trust in the results.

Although I avoid supermarket jungle juice Pab is correct with his comments. It is not unusual to have a 10% or greater drop between summer/winter mpg. eh tu?

I've been running diesel engined cars since 1986 and have always filled them with the cheapest diesel that I can find. I have not had one fuel related problem in all this time.

I do chuck a bottle of fuel system cleaner in the tank every now and then, but only when I see it on special offer.

Ok will try anything ( almost) once so just filled up on Shell V - .10p per gallon dearer than normal Asda I buy- I will see if I notice any difference other than cost 2011 XS,Sumatra Black, GONE MARCH 2014- RR Evoque Prestige 5 door ,MY 2014,Loire Blue, Silver Roof, Panoramic roof.

I'll never put supermarket fuels in mine, you should see the pump fuel filters that come out compared with the premium brands filters.

There is definitely improvements in engine performance and MPG with the V-Power type fuels, but it takes a good few tanks to get the benefit and the fuel working correctly. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Had to go to Manchester & back today - about 90 miles in total via Motorway's- amazed at difference in performance and acceleration - MPG down slightly but think thats because drove faster than normal!!!

Mav - Agree, the supermarket fuels by themselves could be clogging the dispenser pump filters up - but that's what they are there for....

Could also be that supermarket tanks don't get cleaned out as much as BP's, Shell etc. or that supermarket tanks are taken down to bare minimum and any new fuel delivered into these tanks stirs all the crap up into suspension which then goes through the pumps. They could also be using smaller tanks requiring more regular fill ups, exasperating the problem? There's lots of variables on this supermarket fuels subject.
You sound like a knowledgeable guy - do supermarket delivery trucks use epoxy lined tankers? In my line of work, its only jet fuel that requires epoxy lined tankers and storage. Ground fuels don't. MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons

At our level we cannot say there is a difference in performance/mileage at all, anyone who says different just happened to have a different journey along the same road today than they did yesterday.

Temperature, air density, head wind, tail wind, traffic conditions, speed, other drivers, traffic lights, braking, just too many variables for someone to come back and say 'wow' I put 'ultimate' or 'V power' in today and its so much better.

I'm not saying there is no difference between the fuels but it has to be an exact like for like and a rolling road would not provide that, only real life driving and as I said you can never repeat a journey in exactly the way you did previously. Now quality of fuel is a different matter, I don't know if standards are the same for all fuel stations.
