Revs Rising and Falling

When holding the car on the brake in traffic, the revs rise and fall about 200 rpm creating a surging sensation. When the car was serviced 2 weeks ago I reported this and the dealer said it was a faulty fuel filter which they replaced. Obviously this hasn't fixed it so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

Many thanks for that. The service dept said no error codes but I will mention what you have said. Thanks again.

Never did find out what caused the surging and now there is a more serious problem. I noticed a grinding noise between first and second gear changes especially when pulling away from a junction and going uphill and the gears seem to slip a bit. No problems once in second just that first change. The car has been with the dealer for three days and a new gearbox is apparently required, once LR give approval, and it is booked in for five days next week. Not sure what the problem has been and a bit disppointed to be honest but no one has died and it is under warranty. First thing to go wrong in 2 years and just under 54000 miles and I still love the car to bits but some of the shine has been taken off. Can't fault the dealer though and was given a MY13 whilst it was being looked at. Seems quieter and all round a nicer and tighter drive so maybe LR might keep my business when the car is due for renewal. Thumbs Up for the dealer and Big Cry for the car.
