I have run diesels for 27 years and covered around 550k miles in that time across 35 different cars so have some experience. I now NEVER use supermarket fuels and try and stick to the premium brands albeit since discovering the benefits of 2SO additive do not bother with V power or its competitors unless it is on offer.. eh tu?

On my Disco2 I found the BP made a definite difference and 50% Bio was even better. However I won't use bio in the FR2, and the best results seem to come with Shell. But I wonder if either it's subjective or there is some variation, since I've had improvements from standard Jet as well. My only conclusion is that supermarket fuel is not as good, and I rarely use it now.[/i]

Standard fuels at supermarkets and other forecourts are exactly the same. If you go BP/Shell and the others with additives like V power or Ultimate they are only different in so far as the additives.

I have run many vehicles personal & company fleet and not seen any difference, nor noticed any difference on engine reliability due to supposed dirty lower grade supermarket fuel?
All fuel must meet certain standards.

Suppose you have a point there, I suppose the same can be said regarding the fitting of 100w lamps and drilled brakes Whistle p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

It's not a competition regarding mileage however for what it's worth I was driving 35k miles a year through most of my 20's in company Escort mk2 and Ital 1.3'. The point I was making is I have a reasonable and lengthy experience of driving diesels across a wide range of marques and different fuel brands. In respect of additives 2SO is widely used in Germany especially by taxi drivers and if you search the A2OC forum you will find some very convincing lab test results from Germany regarding the benefits. And in my opinion (albeit subjective) I simply find my cars generally run better and cleaner on quality branded fuels. You pay your money and you make your choice! eh tu?

In the owners manual it says car can run on up to 5% biodiesel mix. In our local Morrisons it says on the pump that fuel may contain up to 7% biodiesel so tend to stay away from supermarket diesel. I find car runs much smoother with better MPG when using BP or shell fuel.

My old disco3 used to run like a bag o spanners on supermarket fuel!!!!

EN590 is the required standard for my Freelander to run on so it does not make any difference where it comes from as long as it is made to EN590 standard it will run on it 1995 P38 now dead

I use 2SO at 1;175 (give or take) in my A2TDi and am starting out at that with the Freelandy. Will play around with different ratios to see how it varies. eh tu?
