Final Piece of the Piano Black trim finished and fitted!

After fitting all the piano black trim, I thought the bright silver gearshift surround looked a little out of place, so I decided to something about it.

Here are the pics :-

I think it has just finished it off nicely!

I like that. I like pretty much anything shiny. Cool I haven't even ordered my piano black grab handles yet! Big Cry I'll have to phone up Dan @ Duckworths. Is it a genuine LR part?

Nope, you can't get them I piano black. Mine is the result of 5 coats of gloss black, baked and then 10 coats of lacquer.

Then flattened off until every little blemish is gone, then some good old elbow grease with cutting compound and polish. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Does look smarter than the silver I must admit, but if they were all black folk would be saying how nice they look in silver.

Didn't take too long to be honest. The painting took about 20 minutes. Then about 30 minutes in the oven and left in the garage over night.

Flattening took about 15 minutes and polishing took about 1/2 an hour. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I only put it on the lowest temp for about 5 minutes until the oven was very warm. Then switched it off and left it in the retained heat. But don't leave the oven on as the car part will melt! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I wonder if it could be vinyl wrapped with a carbon fibre effect?
Never really been into modding like this but carbon fibre for me would be good.
Anyone had any experience with such?

Looks nice Mav Thumbs Up
Your freely looks pukka and clean it must take a lot of your time up, as I'm sure you don't just give it a Sunday clean
I reckon with you is a good 2 to 3 hours each clean ---- nothing wrong with that I'm heading the same way Laughing

Piano black trim looks a lot better than the wood or silver, but that's just my opinion and yours of cause Thumbs Up

I don't like wood trim much either. Are you planning on parading your interior trim to Piano Black? Another good mod would be some colour coded mirror caps. I hate plastic ones, for some reason they really annoy me.

I'm looking forward to seeing some facelift pics. Thumbs Up
