There have been no major mechanical changes to the FL2, as far as I am aware. Perhaps he's getting confused because Haldex Traction has been acquired by Borg Warner, thus it's now a Borg Warner Haldex unit?

don't mention haldex unit my bearings have started to fail goes in in two weeks to have them replaced under warranty mine is a 2011 spk vehicle with 33k on the clock no proper off road use but when I bought the car one of my questions was haldex unit and was told that the later versions had an up graded unit fitted l/rover really need to get on top of this. this problem is one of the Freelander Hercules heels rainy-city

I don't think there have been to many on here with Haldex problems, certainly a lot more with Diff Bearings and even more with Clutch and DMF failure. |

thought diff bearings are inside haldex unit so if bearings fail this fault is a problem with the haldex since owning this freelander its had 3x egr valves,4x rear tailgate brake lights,1x clutch, turbo replaced been back so many times for rear trim rattles, i cant rember ive lost count one flat spot that took 18 mts to solve l/rover say quality is paramount i thing they have a long way to go there aftersales is very good but then lets face it they say the freelander is the most reliable i beg to differ not so chuffed owner rainy-city

The 'Haldex unit' (or active on-demand coupling, as LR call it) is a self-contained unit distinct from the differential, although the two are mounted together at the rear of the car. It is my impression (but I may be wrong) that the majority of bearing failures have affected the diff itself, not the coupling. |

No, the Hercules Clutch is what it needs, in place of the Achilles Clutch it actually has! |
