Kinda curious to see World War Z as they filmed some scenes locally, dressed to look like the exterior of a supermarket where much s@#$ had gone down. Cue much excitement in the village to know Brad Pitt was in town. Bit of a hassle for me actually, kept getting mistaken for him...

Also had Vin Diesel here not so long ago for Fast and Furious 6 (I know, I couldn't believe there was that many either). Believe they filmed some action sequence on the old USAF airbase in the film described as the longest runway in the world, so a friend told me who actually paid his own money to see this. And extra for 3D and D-Box seats as well. Mad.

Been to see it tonight and it is frankly awesome! You must see this movie. Cavill brings his own thing to Superman and deserves praise. Costner adds much gravitas as Jonathan Kent and Crowe plays a great Jor-El.

Michael Shannon was fantastically evil as Zod! Also, I thought Amy Adams was good as Lois and had good chemistry with Kal-El/Clark. She is also pretty hot IMO.

Cool Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

sorry have to disagree. The film is a disaster. Story so weak it is laughable. I am so disappointed. It could have been so much better. Not a patch on latest batman movies.

Wife and daughter agree and just checked out metacritic pro reviews and average score is a paltry 53% (Coming) 2016 RR Evoque td4 180 HSE Dynamc

60 000 miles averaging 35mpg

(Gone) 2010 TD4 Manual GS - Stornoway Grey. Sold at 3yrs old & 64k miles. Final average consumption 39.2mpg.

In all seriousness guys and before flylr sees the above wind up post, I will say this about flylr's take on it. Not even the harsher critics came out with such a scathing summary as that!

I also think that at least some of the critics wanted the film to be bad and went in with that mindset. They actually liked the film but rather than admit defeat, they criticised it anyway.

Another interesting point is that the Dark Knight Rises (which I really liked) went down a storm with the vast majority of critics but wasn't as well received by movie goers. Man of Steel seems to be the opposite because I have seen awesome feedback from people commenting on YouTube.

Please see this film for yourself but go in with one piece of advice: Be ready for the middle section of the film to be all about the story building. Early action sequences are there and the final quarter of the film has action that makes Avengers Assemble look calm.

I hope like me and the below review, you will see this film as a film that gives other film makers an ideal to strive towards Wink

Before the doctor sues me... Smile

At no point have I said people should not see it. In my case my family did not enjoy it but you may well love it. And the doctor is right that good critic reviews do not always equal good films for the general populace. The meta critic USER review scores sit at 8.6. (Although less than 500 votes so far) but that shows they don't agree with the critics.

I certainly did not go wanting it to be bad. I was hugely looking forward to it! On the other hand wife and daughter were fairly neutral before seeing it. For comparison they absolutely loved the latest Star Trek even though they are most definitely not Trekkies.

For some positives on Man Of Steel....
Cast did a good job.
Special effects were impressive
Loads of massive cgi action (if that's your thing) (Coming) 2016 RR Evoque td4 180 HSE Dynamc

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Stornoway Grey

Thanks for the reminder npinks. I have been that busy chatting to friends and recommending the movie on Facebook that I forgot about this topic. Just browsing here for first time in a while and I spotted the latest post!

Still trying to come to terms with it. Amazing indeed but quite emotional in parts and Kevin Costner was brilliant. Shame he wasn't in it for longer because he was perfectly cast. Bow down

Special effects alone are stunning but the whole package just felt right to me and I read the comics as a boy, watched the Reeve films, the Dean Cain TV series and although Cavill doesn't have Reeve's charm, he is truly believable and the perfect Superman for the modern audience. 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

Go see it Nick Thumbs Up Just remember my advice above, be ready for a completely different krypton, biblical action and a totally different take to the Reeve films.

The soundtrack is out tomorrow and I pre-ordered at £7.99 on iTunes. It's now £12.99 but it is a great score by Hans Zimmer. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
