What are the symptons of the fault anyway? I've used my sunroof and doesn't seem to have any problem. Phil

Oh nothing much - just might blow off when you are driving with the roof open Laughing

Seriously Whistle - some of the earlier posts on this will illustrate the problem, for example:

www.recalls.gov.au gives details of the Freelander sun roof recall in Australia dated 13 Feb 2008.

Applies there to vin H000201 to H087347, and states that we may experience failure of the left or right guide rail. This may cause the sun roof to become detached from operating mechanism and bind.

No mention of any water leakage, but does refer to P009.

Suggest any one interested should read the whole section on that website, I have just copied part of it. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Hi All,

I had my letter from Land Rover yesterday about the sunroof recall but before this i phoned the dealership after reading the posts on here. And was told that it was still ok to use and the clips would be done on the next service in January!,now the letter states that the sunroof is not to be used until the clips are done and the same was told to me by LR service department on booking in for the clips as since my last call there had been a report of 1 sunroof faliure. And also in the recall letter is says the fitting of the clips takes 20 mins but the guy told me to allow at least 3hrs as they are waiting for a training video to be made and sent out to dealerships.

me too

I've also now received my recall letter. I'm tempted to wait a bit while the dealerships get used to this sunroof recall repair / modification. Rolling Eyes Life is not a dress rehearsal!

I have had my letter amd am waiting for the technicians to be trained how to fix it!!
Does this mean the headlining has to come down again-it has already been down once for the drain tube mod and now I have an irritating rattle from up there, so hopefully it will get put back together properly.

If I want rattles I will go to Mothercare and buy them, and they wont cost the thick end of £30k

Actually I thinK I have more than one rattle from up there, something from the front and another one further back. I keep thumping bits of the rooflining and it stops.............for a few miles.

Ah I think that is where one rattle is coming from-will have to have words with dealer about this when the other roof job is done.

Thanks.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Got my recall letter last week, despite being assured, after checking(!), by the service dept. that the recall was not necessary on my vehicle when it was already in there for other matters (sump oil leak) a month or so ago. Was told I could take it in and wait, but should expect around one and a half hours - they did 3 yesterday and it took around this time for each one with 2 men working on it. I wonder how much LR pay the dealer for each one?
They are now collecting and returning the car instead - using their time, not mine. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

20 minutes? Concidering the time spent on the others here (two hours on mine, as far as I recall), -are you sure it is properly done?

If they budget with 1,5 hours using two men on the job, I think they must have used six men on this job.
Where did they find the space to work to avoid stepping on each others toes? Shocked

20 minutes. Is it done properly, or are the jobs done for all the rest of us just a misuse of time? 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.
