What are the symptons of the fault anyway? I've used my sunroof and doesn't seem to have any problem. Phil |

Oh nothing much - just might blow off when you are driving with the roof open Seriously - some of the earlier posts on this will illustrate the problem, for example: www.recalls.gov.au gives details of the Freelander sun roof recall in Australia dated 13 Feb 2008. Applies there to vin H000201 to H087347, and states that we may experience failure of the left or right guide rail. This may cause the sun roof to become detached from operating mechanism and bind. No mention of any water leakage, but does refer to P009. Suggest any one interested should read the whole section on that website, I have just copied part of it. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof. I've also now received my recall letter. I'm tempted to wait a bit while the dealerships get used to this sunroof recall repair / modification. Life is not a dress rehearsal! |

Actually I thinK I have more than one rattle from up there, something from the front and another one further back. I keep thumping bits of the rooflining and it stops.............for a few miles. |

Got my recall letter last week, despite being assured, after checking(!), by the service dept. that the recall was not necessary on my vehicle when it was already in there for other matters (sump oil leak) a month or so ago. Was told I could take it in and wait, but should expect around one and a half hours - they did 3 yesterday and it took around this time for each one with 2 men working on it. I wonder how much LR pay the dealer for each one?

20 minutes? Concidering the time spent on the others here (two hours on mine, as far as I recall), -are you sure it is properly done? If they budget with 1,5 hours using two men on the job, I think they must have used six men on this job. Where did they find the space to work to avoid stepping on each others toes? 20 minutes. Is it done properly, or are the jobs done for all the rest of us just a misuse of time? 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack. |
