United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Indus Silver

That does look really nice but unfortunately doesn't have an essential for me - sunroof. Not sure many XSs will have been specced with them hence why probably having to go for the HSE (even though I'm not all that bothered about the other bits).

Do want memory seats though, are these standard on an XS?

I think that memory seats are standard for the XS, but now on MY13 models they aren't even electric.

There is this FL2 if you don't mind a higher mileage and tan interior;

That's my point.... I'd rather have that fill the gap... I may remove the screen I may not either way I'd just call the LR version functional ....

PS have a look at waze .... its actually a good navigation system.... would be better with dot warnings but there are a lot of uk users... Terran

I thought memory was use only....

I went for a higher milage hse my self rather than xs just for the toys. It was worth it.... and let's face it these cars are built to last do if you get a good service history your sorted.

If the dealer wants to sell they will find a way but I'd expect them tohelp you break even rather than book price.

Edit first para was supposed to be .... thought memory was on hse only.... dam phone does not like this site so can't edit Terran

ccsnet, it is my understanding that memory only came on hse, my reply was to the post that xs had memory, having just got a xs with electric I confirmed that they don't have have memory seats, nor the drop down mirrors when reversing, (part of the same package)

Funnily enough I went for this xs as It was low mileage against a higher mileage hse or xs, I had a d3 xs before and this has an extra couple of toys, but I didn't want sunroofs, might see about arm rests though as I miss my cubby from the d3. My11 freelander 2, xs, Manual, 18" hse sparkles, sidesteps, privacy, zermatt silver metallic, almond nutmeg alacantra, twin electric towbar

England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Santorini Black

The dealer who took my 59-plate S in part-exchange 2 weeks ago has just put it on his forecourt at £4500 more than he paid.

OK, he's done some work: driver's door didn't auto-lock and the passenger door needed bodywork attention (there were some deep scratches courtesy of Mrs B and a bollard) and he's added 2 tyres. Of course he'll offer a full year warranty, but how much is that worth?

It sounds like I'm bitter but in truth I'm perfectly OK with it. I could have tried to sell it privately and doubtless would have done better than the trade in price, but overall, taking into account the discount I got off my new GS with all the extras, then I think ''OK, this is how it's supposed to work'

I guess if I'm surprised about anything, it's the price of a 1-year old (or less) used car at a main dealer. The asking price is almost always close enough to be within bargaining range of a new one, albeit maybe a trim level lower?

I guess that's my issue with trying to sell my (not even) one year old GS - people looking may think they may aswell stretch themselves a bit more and spec up exactly what they want in a new car.

Although haven't got a problem with dealers making a living/profit (they've got to pay for those swanky showrooms somehow). Bit confused why on a 2012 plate they try to still make £4-5k though, I mean my car is immaculate with 8800 miles and still has 2 years manf warranty - so all the dealer will do is make sure it's clean and put it straight on their forecourt, no additional costs to them!

I previously spoke to a dealer, and was told on top of the small things that needed fixing for the sale, the years warranty and required things to do with this were £1500, then don't forget the dealer has to pay his VAT on any profit, soon makes them not make very much at all Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

EDIT: PS to above. Same dealer has a 62-plate 3-door Evoque 'Dynamic' (diesel) at £48,000! You could get a lot of brand new car for that money.

Fair point about the VAT. I think I'm more likely to ring round lots of dealers to get the best trade-in quotes for my GS then alter my private sale advert for £500-1000 above it and see if there's any takers.

I've no issue selling privately and have done all my previous cars. There are dangers with money etc but as long as you take the necessary precautions... Someone will get a decent deal on a 2012 GS though as it'll clearly still have 2 years warranty on it and they won't have paid a premium at a dealers - I could even stretch to giving the buyer a free coffee too!

That's why I sold my d3 to dealer for 2k more than the dealers up here wanted to pay for it, then got a spanking deal on a my11 60plate xs, and money in the bank,

I don't think think any of us mind the dealers making a living, but it just seems that they are making a mug out of us. My11 freelander 2, xs, Manual, 18" hse sparkles, sidesteps, privacy, zermatt silver metallic, almond nutmeg alacantra, twin electric towbar

Dickie: sounds like your requirements are very similar to mine. Although I was after the SD4.

There was one at Guy Salmon (60 plate HSE SD4 with 41k) listed for £21450 which was on my final short list but ended up going for a lower mileage XS with all the HSE goodies I wanted (sunroof, almond leather, armrests). I had some initial price conversations on this HSE but they didn't really move much on price.

Most of this spec are listed for £23/24k+ so this one *might* be a bargain....

Given what was said about cars less than a year old falling into a category all of their own really, maybe the best thing to do, Dickie, is to find a dealer with an HSE or similar spec that is only months old (in fact circumstances similar to your own)

Given that the lesser models are now very well specced from new, the dealer may well struggle to shift a nearly-new HSE and may be open to a deal?
