First post so be gentle. I have all but signed on the line for a MY2013 XS Auto SD4 in Fuji White

I travelled to view it yesterday and I checked out everything i wanted to check out mainly the interior condition etc, but totally forgot about checking the headlights.

Trader is closed now just tried phoning and this is a longshot, but are the lamps identifiable from the design in what is a really bad picture?.... I am interested to know mainly if they are xenon or not and if they have the signature LED's in?

The headlights have the lenses in that it would have for Xenon bulbs but of course it might have the halogen bulb in instead and you cant tell until you switch them on.
It looks like you have the LED daylight running lights.

Unless it's specced with xenons they will be standard halogen with LED signature strip, only the HSE lux has xenons as standard I think.

The eBay ones are the previous model.

so it looks like a yes to signature LED's but impossible to know on the main lamp. Car wasnt advertised as having any headlamp upgrades at all, hence my uncertainty as i thought the LED signature strips are an option at XS level? So then I wondered what exactly is fitted when i saw the light fitting on the picture with the xenon looking lens

yes, car is nice, 2000 miles on the clock. crying out for privacy glass in the rear, but thats easy done afterwards. Will post in the my freelander section if i do decide to go for it!

This will be my first 4x4, im just opting out of the company audi A3 and going onto the car allowance and the good woman is selling her car to contribute toward it so committing a chunk of (my admittedly increased) income on a car where i have to pay for fuel is unnerving me slightly! I want the car for daily use to and from work (about 25 miles per day) and regular runs from the Midlands to the lake district where my dad has a holiday home. My other half will be using it socially on weekends (I have a 2006 BMW Z4 M as a high days and holidays car as well if we both needed to drive at the same time).

The other half wants an Evoque, but it felt smaller inside to me, and i preferred the more functional interior feel of the freelander, not to mention the cost hike for getting the same spec in an evoque.

Still not certain about the spec of the LED strips? Website seems to have halogen with LED as an option and Xenon with LED as an option.
The DRL I have seen on the new model have always been LED, I am wondering if the circular LED unit acts as a DRL on the XS and the LED strip is an option, weird setup LR have there, either way it's a great car so don't worry about it.

glad its not just me confused by it. like you say, its hardly a deal breaker, i have been a bit concerned reading negative comments on the quality of the 2013 halogen lights on threads on this site though, so kind of hoping they have just forgotten to list Xenon's

Despite many negative views on the Halogen lights, I find that the lights on my 2011 HSE are great.

Right, here goes, the other thread you point too, that is a HSE which has LED sig strip as standard, yours may not have that unless it was upgraded.

I'd like a new one too, especially in Mauritius blue. I'm going to have to wait until the new Freelander is released. My one has only done 19,000 miles!

So i downloaded the PDF brochure, looks like every model has the circular LED DRL section at the front, its just the signature strip thats a £230 option on Halogens or £940 if you take Xenon's as well.

I'm guessing i wont know till i go and turn em on!

It doesn't look like you have the signature strips to me - the DRLs are there and they are LED by the looks of things, but the signature strip on my DRLs makes the whole lamp look a little different to what yours looks like.

Hope I'm wrong, because I love the signature strips on mine. MY2013 SD4 Auto HSE in Santorini Black, Rear Spoiler, Privacy Glass, and Union Jack valve caps.

those are Halogen lamps with DRL according to the spec from the Reg Sophie Alltoft

I can say 100% that it won't have signature LED headlights unless Xenons have been specified as an option. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I can say 100% that mine does have signature LEDs without specifying Xenon's as an option!
