I'm led to believe that the 2013MY base models do not have the recess where we fit our after market satnavs (2011MY). Bit of a bummer for those of us who don't want to shell out for a factory fitted satnav, might have second thoughts about trading up to another FL2.

Obviously someone at LR has been reading this site and is out to maintain sales of their ludicrously expensive model!

Just one extra tip

When fitting SAT NAV dont forget to reconnect hazard lights etc. Had to take mine apart agin

I have just fitted the TT Start 60 in the FL replacing my Garmin 1490. The work done by Parallax, Kitchener and others has made it a doddle of a job. Many thanks guys it was simple when I followed your instructions including putting the Landrover screen on startup and shut down.
I don't have traffic management however and as I found it very useful I am wondering if it can be attached to the TT60 and retaining the USB supply? I need this to update cameras and maps with my laptop as the Sat nav cant be easily removed now. Ralph

I have now connected the Traffic Management accessory to the Start 60 and because the Satnav is basically a permanent fixture now I have had to make some mods to the connections.
The TMC unit uses a mini USB connection but the Satnav has a micro USB input. Tomtom supply a adaptor which enables the two to be fitted together but as I will need to update the Satnav from time to time I bought a adaptor cable from EBay which allows me to connect the laptop without removing all the dash unit. I only have to take the central top fret off and the extended adaptor is there. The part on EBay is number eBay Item No. 220814297262 and only costs £1.39. Be careful though as you have to have a five pin to five pin adaptor for the TMC to function. The above part number is such a one.
I must say that the TomTom is probably not as good as the Garmin I hade before but is perfectly adequate for the job as the car has the phone Bluetooth etc. Ralph

It's a cracking upgrade, I have ordered a TMC lead for it but heard mixed reviews, might have to connect an external aerial for it? I will post how I get on.

Just a small warning - I've found the TomTom to be a bit temperamental (well, it's dirt cheap). There are errors on the maps, the speed camera warnings are a bit hit and miss (doesn't seem to cover the A1 south of the A14, for example, or parts of the A20)and I have had to remove the dash a couple of times to start it up - it doesn't like to start if the battery goes flat, and you have to press and hold the on/off switch. Note also that if you switch the ignition on, then off again before the device has completely powered up, it doesn't switch itself off.
Mine also gets confused by average speed cameras and stops displaying road speed. Eventually it comes back!
That said, it's still a great cheap mod and many thanks to Kitchener who first discovered this.

The TMC works perfectly OK as long as with the USB micro to mini adaptor you ensure that the TMC sits at the top just below the covering fret.
If you smear some silicone gel or such like on the fastening clips for the top fret it makes the fret mush easier to prise on and off.

I have been running my Start for a while now using a TMC receiver and am quite pleased with it. I have not had any reception problems but I did install the lead so the inline box (antenna?) was under the central speaker grille thinking it may help it along. I view the TMC as a nice add-on, cheap to get and without any subscription costs. It has proven useful on several occasions and the user interface is very neat.

Also maybe worth mentioning that you can get the TMC receiver with a micro USB connector (I know because I did) so you don't need to add a mini/micro adapter - see ebay eBay Item No. 321122927922 for an example.
