The paint is literally peeling away if you rub your hand across it to leave the black primer. There are no scuffs or dents which would suggest and impact it could be moisture just getting between the paint and the primer which is in my favour to prove its been there for a while.

A classic case of a bodged local S.M.A.R.T. repair, probably in a tent, with a Halgen Heat gun to "cure" it in 20 minutes...as opposed to a proper job with a slow-bake oven. Lacquer lifts in extreme temperatures, hot or cold, and the nett result is as per the picture.

Seen it many a time, particularly in areas of heat generation, like bonnets etc.....unfortunately, more and more insurers are trying to cut costs and corners by employing people to do this cheap and often short term repair. Foraging near Gaydon....

LR service department has said to keep an eye on it, but its happened again since so it getting booked in ASAP.

LR will also cover the costs of respray for the paint (they've not even seen it), they have a local chap who undertakes their respray work, its less than a mile from my house and looks to be a unit in a small industrial estate so hopefully no tents and hair-dryers involved.

Going to spray and blend most of the door as well as the rear wheel arch. He didn't want to tent it so brining it to their unit and using a spray booth. Black is pretty easy to match in so fingers crossed. Just the haunted fuel gauge now!
