You could try intermittent fasting. Worked well for the bloke on the telly.

Book is only about £5 on amazon.

I'll raise your 7.1 to 7.2! Thats what I was and I went on a healthy diet and took plenty of exercise - just walking and swimming. No salt, white bread, shellfish, nuts, chocolate, coffee, cheese, butter, cream, fried stuff, roasted stuff, bacon, processes meat, sausages eggs etc. After 3 months I was down to 4.6.

Medication should be a last resort.

this is the way I was thinking/hoping Steve, but the doctor seems to be pushing the statin a bit.

I certainly have always drunk a fair bit of coffee, didn't realise it could raise my Cholesterol ?

Hmmm - coffee? I drink vast amounts of it - that was never mentioned by the GP.

That's why I prefer to get the apprentice when I go for an appointment as they are likely to be more up to date. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

Porridge 4 times a week no sugar (nurse told me no golden syrup either spoilsport..!!)

[quote5jms5. I thought it was hereditary. Plenty of exercise and a healthy diet helps. Take the Doctors advice...quote]

Yes you can be predisposed to high cholesterol due to genetics, but lifestyle & diet are major factors. 5jms5 is right, plenty of exercise, watch what you eat & keep in touch with your GP / Practice Nurse. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!
