England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Auto Sumatra Black

I'm going to order 4 AT's today. Can anyone clear up the rating issue I have? I know its on a seperate thread on here but this thread is from people who have bought the AT Door pillar in car says 104H/108V for the 235/65/17. Gen Grabber AT is 108H. Do I need to inform my insurance company or is the tyre fine for the Freelander? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

"H" rating is 130mph and is no problem IMHO, if you are worried talk to your insurance company, we have not had any customers with any insurance problems. Load rating is fine. Andy.

Thanks Andy,

I've been abit stressed looking at all the tyres! I was just double checking with the load index. The tyre sticker on the door pillar says 104H/108V. The Wranglers I have on at the mo are 104V so i'm going to take it that its any tyre in the range of 104H/108V. I reckon there would be a few threads on here if the insurance companies were kicking up a fuss. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Most insurance companies are not bothered if you go down a speed rating, they are also not bothered if you change winter tyres. The onY thing you are doing really is wasting your and there time phoning them!

You're only wasting yours and their time if ALL insurance companies are not bothered, while there are some that are then until you know who they are it still pays to check.

Obviously its your choice to give them a 'get out clause' if the worse comes to the worse.

Load rating is the most important part of it. Thumbs Up

Dropping to the H is not a problem IMHO.

And don't forget the NEW General GT is 108V. Whistle Andy.

After much thought I've gone for UHP's as I do hardly any off roading. My wife gets a discount through her work so local tyre fitter will fit them Friday. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Damm! Etyres cant get hold of the UHP's. Tried fobbing me off with a tyre called a Matador? The lady didnt get my joke about it being Spanish Very Happy

When I get home tonight i'll phone my insurance company about the speed rating with the AT.

Buying a new set of tyres is doing my head in. Looked at budget tyres such as Infinity but ive never heard of them, mid range i've only heard of Marangoni and General and I cant quite stretch to premium brand tyres. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Spoke to my insurance company (L+V) about H rating tyres. They said that as the size of the tyre wasnt changing then the change of rating is not an issue with themselves and WILL NOT affect the policy. I dont know if thats the same with other insurance companies or not. I will now be ordering some AT's probably from Black Circle now as a garage close to my work place can fit them. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Just got 4 AT's fitted. My wranglers were down to just under 3mm after 34000 miles. I must say first impressions are that the AT's are quieter, I will see how they sound when they are run in. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I'm looking to replace my tyres soon. I contacted General about Christmas time regarding the AT2 in 235 60 R18 and this is the reply:

Hello Paul,
The production start for the Grabber AT in your size is around April 2013
and in terms of a tyre in this size with off road capability this is the
only one I would recommend.

Does anyone in the trade have any updated information to confirm if these would be in stock next month?

A month (or two) too late for me Sad
I'll watch with interest what people think about them at this size with the view of getting a set next time.
