my2010 GS has a sub, although pretty poor but can imagine how Censored it would be without it. A friends Evoque has the basic meridian stereo in and it bloody amazing. do the new freelanders not share this system?

At 13MY you should get...

XS & Dynamic:
Meridian™ Audio System – (380W) with 11 speakers radio and single slot, CD player, MP3 disc compatibility, auxiliary input, including seven inch high resolution Touch-screen.

HSE & HSE Lux (option on XS & Dynamic):
Meridian™ Audio System – (825W) 17 speakers radio and single slot CD player, MP3 disc compatibility, auxiliary input, including seven inch high resolution Touch-screen

The above is UK market specific!

I think the clue is in the thread title - this discussion is about the GS radio!

For the record, the spec for S/GS is:
Land Rover Audio System – (80W) with eight speakers, including five inch colour display radio and single slot CD player, MP3 disc and file compatibility

I had hoped that the speakers would be:
1 x front centre
2 x high range (front L + R)
2 x mid/low range (front L + R)
2 x broad range (rear L + R)
1 x sub

On the basis of feedback from other GS MY13 owners, it sounds like it's actually:
2 x high range (front L + R)
2 x mid/low range (front L + R)
2 x high range (rear L + R)
2 x mid/low range (rear L + R)

Can anyone confirm?

Arrows_ant,
I was ignoring the thread and answering milky400 Off Topic

As for your question, I think there are some descriptions/pictures in Topix...

Well my 2010 GS has the sub in the boot with the Alpine audio system with bluetooth. This was standard fit not an optional extra and the sound output and bass is excellent Thumbs Up

Weird how LR would get more stingy with equipment with the facelifted models LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
LOT (Lord of Time) - University of Gallifrey

I had the same problem in my '12 model, so what I did was wire in a after market subwoofer.

You have a few options that you can do either yourself or get professionally installed.
There are a few under seat subwoofers with built in amps available or you can get a amp and subwoofer box depending on how much bass you want and how much space you are willing to give up in the rear of the car.

The way to get audio to them is tap into the rear door speakers and run some wires from there to the High Input of the amp or if your amp has only RCA inputs get a High to Low converter (usually only a few bucks) and problem solved, the hardest part is running the wires from the doors and getting it to look tidy.

This what I did before I changed the head unit in mine and it was a massive improvement to the sound to the standard unit.

@Natwest, thanks for the steer to TOPIx, looks like a good source of reference material for a (soon to be) new owner like me - although I couldn't find the answer to my question. I guess I will have to wait until 23rd March and find out for myself!

Yes.. I'm sure we could add amps and subs etc, but thats not the point... This is ment to be a face lift model, not a cost down cheap as chips.. Where has the sub gone or even the half decent speakers that were in the 09 FL?
They've also taken out Auto lights / Auto wipers / Fogs / Healight washers / mirror lights / spare wheel etc etc.. and given us leather seats.... But don't mess with the sound man!.. thats Sacrilege !

I've just had a look at the spec sheet for the 2013 GS and there are quite a few differences. Some stuff they've taken out and other stuff they've added. I have to say that, on the whole, for me I prefer the spec of the 'old' GS.

There's a downloadable price list which contains the full spec of the 2012 models here - http://www.landrover.com/content/gb/en/pdf...12_GWS.pdf.

Interesting to compare it with the 2013 version here - http://www.landrover.com/content/gb/en/pdf...e-list.pdf.

It does seem to confirm that the subwoofer has gone. 2012 GS has 9-speaker system, whereas the 2013 GS has 8-speaker system. Dirty trick that IMO.

Leather is nice of course... but Probably cheaper than all the stuff that has been stripped out.

Biggest moan at work is XS not having heated front screen as standard. User-choosers at our place can't order options so many of them who had a 12MY FL2 and ordered 13MY to replace it with ended up having a shock on the first cold morning Laughing (sorry, I meant Rolling Eyes as I'm only jealous...).
