Had my freelander a few months now and its good to be back behind the green oval.

Just a quick question. I've got a 2008 model GS (UK Spec) and i was wondering if it has the windscreen electric booster heater. I'm not sure how i would check as it does not seem to warm up the demister any quicker than any other car i've had.
(not to be confused with heated screen)

there is a electric aux heater in the dash, these were subject to a recall in very early cars

its no fuel burning heater, but gives a little bit of heat to aid in warming the cabin till the engine heat comes through

I tested it some time ago to see whether the PROG button made a difference and its fully automatic

If you dont think its heating up very much, check that the fuse is ok, or actually plug in, if its still tiewrapped to the cables in the fuse box it may mean your car hasn't had the upgraded part and is a firerisk Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks for the reply, I've looked up the recall on this and my freelander is a later model (July 2008). however i would like to check the fuse incase a previous LR dealer hase made mistake and pulled it. Also from your reply i assume its fitted to all models? If i can find the fuse and wiring hopefully i can also measure if its drawing current.

fuse is big bolt on strip on side of main underbonnet fuse box,

Found and tested the fuse. All ok now just need to work out if the heaters actually working so any suggestions welcome. I work nights and when i come out to the car at 0600 it does not appear to do much.

try an ammeter on fuse supply? At work
