United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Lago Grey
Heated seats

I am new on freel2 so forgive my naivety!

Regarding the front heated seats in FL2, GS TD4 e 2009
Mine has the added option of heated seats where the switches are situated on the side of the actual seat.

My question is whether the seats should only heat the bottom and not the backrest section?

Also, just wondered if the HDC button on the centre console should illuminate when lights are on (i understand that whilst operating the dash light illuminates) just wanted to check if it has a bulb out as mine not lit up?

Cheers.
This is my 1st freelander and love it!
I managed to get a day at LR experience centre near Skipton, North Yorks. I was absolutely amazed at what the FL2 can do off road even on normal road tyres!!

I have had General 235/65/17 A/T fitted to all four corners - so far so good (just a bit of increased road noise, but worth it for the extra grip page).

Cheers
look forward to some replies.
Thumbs Up

Welcome.

HDC button does not illuminate.

OEM heated seats do both backrest and cushion (I think) not sure about non-standard ones though.

The heated seats on HSE heat both the cushion and backrest. Welcome to Freel2, you will find many useful posts on here. Thumbs Up

Where they not HSE spec ones?
The OP has a GS so only optional on that model, I am wondering if it has had a seat base change in its career and ended up with just a heated base? Certainly strange, never heard of any seats with the control on the seat base itself?

It's feels like it is, but I've always thought it was how the heat rised Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

On OEM push the switch once you get two orange lights, one for back and one for base. Push the switch a second time and the base light goes out leaving just the heated back. A Land Rover owner since 1988

OK

My little test took temps from base and backrest they started off at 7c & 9c and then 5 mins later they were 16c and the backrest was 22c

So I stand corrected there must be a heating element in the backrest too Smile Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Fraid not - one push , 2 LEDs lit and seat and backrest heater on high, second push 1LED both now on low, push again OFF.

Has anyone got any good recommendation for retrofitted headed seats for my GS?
Is it hard to do?

Thanks Thumbs Up

I have replaced all the seat covers on my 10MY Gs with 12MY GS covers, while doing this I installed carbon fibre heated seat pads to the front seats with switches installed on side of gear box console. They are very good ,heating up in a couple of minutes , with 3 heat settings . Its a good days work stripping seats down . You will need hog ring pliers and hog rings and a set of torx keys.

Along with TomTom install best mod i've done .

Mmm...not happy. Got a 2010 XS with OEM heated seats, bum gets toasty as does low base of back but neither front seat upright ever warmed up. Thought base of back was just warming up through heat transfer Sad _________________
