I don't think I'd like to call that one! The body looks retriever-ish, but the head doesn't look particularly retriever or collie to me - it has a more solid look, more like a Staffie (apart from the ears, obviously).

Perhaps I mistakenly took the original paperwork as true and thought of her as a 'crossbreed', when in reality she is a 'mongrel' and a mixture of many.

strange they don't just except just cross breed, if you rescue a dog, unless all the documentation was handed in then the rescue centre has to put cross breed down even if it was a pure pedigree, or so i thought, unless its clearly a boxer dog, collie, pit bull etc Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

The insurance online form accepts 'mongrel' with no other questions on breed but 'crossbreed' wants two breeds to complete, so far I have bitza/heinz but for some reason the drop down list doesn't have them listed

Lots - that's the problem! The stance is retriever-like, but the body is chunkier than a retriever, and the legs and tail look shorter. The head (sans ears) has the bear-like appearance of some of the stouter breeds, which taken together with the chunkiness of the body and relatively short legs makes me think there's something of that nature in her - maybe Staffie or something like that. The colouring and markings, look retriever-ish in parts, but the white chest could be collie, or even from the 'chunky' strain. The darker streaks towards the top of the back contain something other than retriever too. I'd say there's probably retriever there all right, plus something a bit on the chunky side. Maybe Staffie or something like it. But that's about the best I can do! (Caveat - I've spent a bit of time around dogs, but I'm no expert, so don't rely on anything I say!) Nice dog though. |
