Rear bumper removed picture request.

I have looked without any luck. I need a picture of the Freelander 2 / LR2 with the rear bumper removed.
My goal is to install a new rear view camera along the rear bumper but I don't want to drill into any metal parts.
So before I go and remove the whole thing, maybe I can see some pictures and make a decision.

Can anyone help me please? Even if it's a wrecked one, it's ok. Cuatro Por Cuatro

You are better off getting one that replaces one of the number plate lights.

Similar to this one

Even thought the install requires pulling the trim off the tailgate and running wiring through the back part of the roof, it still would be a lot easier than a bumper removal.

Why not get a 13MY tailgate handle that's for a rear-view camera spec car? That way you still have the correct number of reg plate lamps, a nicely mounted RVC and no hole in your bumper...

yep, there is one in my gallary.

I watched them add my tow bar - a real b1tch of a job
not something I would want to do, bearing in mind I fitted rear entertainment system, roof rails and loads other bits.

why dont you get the number plate light camera - they look OEM when fitted.

check out fleabay.

good luck

EYorkshire thank you for the picture. Exactly what i needed.

pcheaven, I had a bad experience with the number plate camera. it caught on fire almost burning my car down. Also the light output on the camera light housing was not so great either. Another thing with those oem style cameras is that they have the reverse grid built into them and the GVIF has one already that can be turned on or off. The camera i have does not have it so it will be perfect.
I'll post pictures once I am done. Cuatro Por Cuatro

Thanks for the heads up on this.
I have put a fuse inline with mine plus the way mine is wired up the camera only gets power when I select reverse rather than it being on all the time.

Where did you got your power for the camera?
What fuse did you use?
Thanks Cuatro Por Cuatro

I am running my power from "F5" in the passenger side fuse box with a 10 amp fuse which feeds power to pin 30 on a relay, also is the on switch for my amps.

From there pin 86 is triggered from the Green/White wire (Reverse Lights) in the tail light assembly. Pin 87 goes to the camera and the head unit (so the camera only receives power in reverse gear) Pin 85 is ground.

Between pin 87 and the camera I have used a 5 amp inline fuse holder, this only a double insurance measure rather than a necessity.

I used a relay so I didn't get any CANBUS errors or flickering reverse lights.

Also I found that the 5 metres of RCA cable wasn't long enough so I bought a 2 metre male to female extension.

Nairbr Thanks for the help.
The setup I have I need two 12 volt sources. One to the GVIF that needs to be switched (Which I used F5 for it with a 10 amp fuse) and then I need another switched 12 volt for the reverse camera.

My thoughts are to use a relay to connect a constant 12 volt source from the rear fuse box to pin 30. Pin 86 will be triggered by the green/white reverse wire. Then pin 87 goes to the camera and then 85 to ground.

A fuse 10 amp before the 30 pin on the relay and a fuse between the relay and camera 5 amp and i should be ok right?

How about between the green/white wire between the relay and reverse light? No fuse needed there? Cuatro Por Cuatro

Hi 4por4
Sounds like a good set up.
I don't think you will need a fuse between the green / white wire, it's only drawing a few millivolts.
Cheers
