We were up in the Lakes this weekend fo a short break and decided on a trip over the Wrynose/Hardknot Pass on the way back. It had obviously snowed quite hard during the week, with some pretty deep drifts still visible at the road sides. At just about the top of the Wrynose Pass we saw the first of two FL2s. This one hod obviously left the road and had ended up 'in the rough', having left the road on the off side. Here the ground is about a foot below the level of the road and strewn with boulders. I didn't get the chance to have a very good look, not wishing to find myself in a similar predicament, but it looked like it had sustained some hefty damage to the front off side wheel/suspension.

As we rounded the next bend, just 50 or so yards further up, there was another FL2, oddly the same colour as the first (dark blue) just abandoned nose facing in towards, but not touching the rock wall of a bit of a cutting with it's back end sticking out leaving just enough room for us to squeeze through the gap. As there was no signs of life anywhere we could only presume they had been up there for a few days, going back to when the snow had been bad.

As anyone who has been over this route will know it can be fairly challenging on a good day, but in bad weather I would not like to drive over there in any vehicle. There are sections that going up or down are 1st gear hairpins with almost sheer drops to the sides in places. Hairy stuff in the wet, never mind snow and ice. [/list]

Aye, that's them. The one off the road I can understand being left, it looked ed, but the other one just looks like it was left.

Would have been a long, hard walk back to civilisation from there, especially in the snow.

I nearly got stuck on some muddy soft grass, yesterday whilst shooting, just spun and went no where, quick twist of the dial to mud n ruts and away I went

Not entirely the best idea up there in that weather no matter what vehicle your in....
