United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver
Key fob housing: faulty

Hello all
Over the last couple of weeks we've found that the key fob no longer ejects from the dashboard in the normal way. It's as if the sensor that detects that the driver wants to remove the fob has partly failed. The only way to remove the fob is to lightly pull the fob and then keep pulling as the fob is "given up". I can imagine that eventually either or both the key fob will break where the key ring is attached) or the unit in the dashboard will pack up completely. Has anyone else experienced this problem please, and if so, been able to sort it?
Thanks
DT

There is a service builitin about this, not sure which one but I will try and find it, I think the fix was to replace both fobs, and do something to the key unit... Freelander 2, 2014 Dynamic SD4 Santorini Black

If you google land rover topix you can register for an hour of access for about £10 the information should be easy to find from there.

Try your spare key fob. If it ejects properly then it is the key fob not the dash housing that is worn.
The fob that I regularly use showing its age and the buttons are no longer flush (compared to a new Fob) and now stick out a couple millimeters higher.
My spare key Fob is in perfect (like new) condition and ejects smoothly (and faster).
