The only lights switched through relays are main beams and fog lights.

By taking the relay coil supply off the back of the left hand headlight connector (Orange / Yellow cable from memory) you avoid any issues with FETS as Alex stated. This cable runs straight back to the fuse box and battery via the main beam relay contacts, so it should be safe to use without the possibility of damaging anything. I will be taking the main auxiliary light power from the engine compartment fuse box at the side of the battery box via an inline 15 Amp fuse via a relay to be mounted on local bodywork.

You could do that. But, if you get a sort circiut though the 3A fuse, there will be some current 'let through' due to the time characteristics of blade fuses. This would weaken the 15A main beam fuse upstream which could rupture without warning sometime in the future.

I took a feed off the L/H headlight main beam to energise a relay coil (30 – 40 Amp relay) and the main power was picked up from the engine compartment fuse box (15 Amp In-line fuse used). The feed from the main beam is routed to the relay via an illuminated override switch mounted on the side of the centre console (easy to get to for fitting and operating and it’s not obstructed by the steering wheel as it would be on the dash).

Eurolandy's method of installing seems to be the best solution I have come across so far. Do you have the dimensions for the brackets and were you able to find the diagrams and approximately how long did it take to complete the job. Any help would be appreciated. I hope to install Lightforce Strikers shortly and trust that it will prove to be money well spent. |
