Well at this point I have to confess that I have not tried the LR bi-xenon, but I have tried a few from other manufacturers, mainly VAG.

Those products without an extra pair of main beam units are OK on some roads, i.e. typically narrower and winding roads, but on open wide roads, moorland, Swedish forests, and especially in the wet, they just do not cut it ime.

My last co car, a Skoda, had bi-xenon AFS units plus an extra pair of main beam units, and I couldn't really fault the set up tbh.

Hope that explains where I'm coming from.

Of course the LR setup may be so utterly brilliant that all is solved, but tbh I doubt it.

Key to reliability key?

Thanks Sparkyfletch, I am obliged.
Might still prefer it to come as an optional extra - if that is the progress train to the future I think it is headed in the wrong direction. Stop please I want to get off Smile

Mine has Bi Xenons and they without doubt are the Dogs, it's like daylight at midnight with them on.

Lightening our darkness

I have the winter pack with Bi Xenon or whatever they are called doubries. By far the best headlights on any car I have owned - better than the 4 headlight set up on my previous XJ. And so far - still on original bulbs - if they have bulbs that is - they just lighten the darkness... Idea Idea

Oh they do have bulbs, but not as we know it Jim

The Skoda that I had had Xenons for dipped and Halogen for main beam, brilliant setup, but when the Xenon bulb went I was looking at £130 just in parts. The headlamp unit was £600 when it was damaged by "kissing" a bench.

They are available in different colours (yellow to blue) make sure the colour is as original or they look Censored Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Always replace them in pairs, they age and you will never match they colour, Stownrow on here replaced his and got some slighter whiter ones with a much crisper light, look at his posts I am sure the details are in there somewhere.
Prices have come down a lot although Fleabay is rife with fakes so beware, is there anything the orientals won't copy.

What I would like:

- a bigger boot AND/OR a more easily removable roof rack system (rather than the permanent rails)
- illuminated memory buttons on the electric seats
- move the fog lamp switches so you can see them
- separate switch for headlamp washers
- some way to permanently disable the eco engine stop/restart
- a more practical dipstick

What I would hate:

- electric handbrake

Generally, I'd like some more useful storage / shelf stuff to hold or put the little things on.

For example - based on having a 2010MY:

A little pocket shelf under the main light switch.
A flat shallow space to lie a phone in ... further to the front of the centre console area
Better use of the dash ... its all so sloped that nothing can sit on it. Even the tiny shelf in front of the satnav is useless.
Somewhere for sunglasses !!!

At the moment, its all bottle holders and things rattle around.

I don't know about other folk, but i generally decant my wallet and phone out of my pockets for driving, and the bottle holders just make things rattle around. The flat area behind the bottle holders is too far back to be useful.

- In display when 4x4 (rear wheels) is turned on.
- Dog proof trunk.
- More possibilities to install modifications.

United States 2013 LR2 2.0T HSE Lux Auto Barolo Black

Building on the MY13 I would suggest the following changes:

True "keyless" entry to go with the passive ignition key. I was actually surprised this wasn't fitted already.
4x4 status screen and cameras from the Evoque
    Slightly taller ground clearance
    AC Power in Console/Cargo area
    Power liftgate
2013 LR2 HSE LUX: 2.0L I4; Barolo Black, Ebony Windsor Leather; Navigation, Satellite Radio, Cold Weather Pack, Piano Black Trim.

Why do people want or what is the benefit of a split tailgate?

If your wanting to load anything into the boot thats heavy like a cement mixer or bags of sand its more of a hinderance. You cant lift heavy items directly onto the tailgate as it wont tank the load so your lifting and trying to reach over the tailgate and strain your back.

Looks & sizewise I wouldnt change a thing, If you want something bigger with more room or something with 7 seats get a Disco, If you want something narrower get a shogun.

To me the Freelander is a good size 4x4 in the Landrover range & making it any bigger / smaller will detract from this

What you need is reliability. How many posts on here seem to be "common" faults that occur all the time, such as clutch going or battery not lasting very long? Fix these first.

As mentioned previous make the accessories cheaper so that you actually sell them, there is a need, look at all the copies available on ebay, make it with areas ready to plug and play spotlights................ and make some bloody black and silver badges for the car
