Particulate filter dpf catches and burns exhast soot, needs heat to properly work hence the need for occasional long runs, you could do the long run stationary, revving in your drive but it would be dull and the neighbours would probably throw sharp things at you.

Yes as Dave says, are you certain you have a DPF, if you are unsure then ask the dealer to look underneath or search your VIN number. It was available as an option but why anyone would tick that box is beyond me. |

Nah you won't have one. For peace of mind wipe your finger in the exhaust (no comments please!) if it comes out black (as you'd expect) you don't have one. If its clean you do.

If you have one 'big thing' then it will be the catalytic converter, but if you have two 'big things' then after the 'cat' will be the DPF.

Hi, you will enjoy the car, if it does not already have them, the best £100 odd quid you can spend is a set of genuine mud flaps, it's amazing how much crap they keep off the car. then the next best £100 is up-rating all 4 headlight bulbs, after that you have a pretty damn good motor with the two major flaws ironed out 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

You won't have DPF if it is a UK spec model built in 06/07. Manual will cover more than one market and will often mention things that are not fitted to UK models but are to other Countries covered by the same Manual. |

The smoke's not necessarily noticeable, only very rarely in certain operating conditions and then it's only in the headlights of the car behind when it's dark. We're not talking steam locomotives here, or audi's from about 4 or 5 years ago! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
