Just joined up and thought I'd say hello... I'm looking at getting a FL2 in the next couple of months and have spent a good part of the afternoon perusing various threads on the forum - you lot certainly know your onions!

The decision to go for one came about as I had a go in a workmate's 07 plater 2.2L a couple of weeks ago and I was blown away by just how good it felt to drive. My current daily hack is a 'hairdresser purple' Fiesta (no laughing at the back...) and having tried the Freelander 2 I'm desperate to chop it in and move on. I've also got two classics in the shape of a '68 Mk2 Cooper 1275 S which is currently being restored, and a '72 Rover P6 V8 Auto which is being sold to make room for a P5B Coupe). Always been a fan of anything with a Rover / Land Rover badge on and looking back, I wish I'd taken the plunge back in 2008 when I bought the Fiesta... I only went out to buy a paper but came home with a brand new car!

Hopefully with some help from you folks I should be able to decide on what's the best model / spec to go for - I've already picked up on the 'manual vs auto' debate from one or two threads and I know roughly what my budget will be, so fingers crossed I'll be joining the fray before too long

Thanks for the welcome! I'm already actively looking at stuff on the 'net.... thinking the best way to go is with a dealer so I can chop the Fiesta in and cut out the hassle of selling it privately. Looking at the numbers we might be able to go for an 07 / 08 plater auto 2.2, and being centrally based there are some likely candidates not too far away... Chilterns, West Mids etc. The missus is a bit worried about the relatively high mileage of some of those we've looked at online, but so long as the FSH is present I don't see it as a problem.

Really was gobsmacked at how nice my mate's example was to drive, I took it for a jaunt up the M1 in bad weather and it felt so solid compared to the tinpot Fiesta. I remember cruising along looking around the cabin and thinking 'yes, I'm having some of this...'

Just joined up as I've been researching fl2 for the last couple of months and found this forum to be the most helpful, pick up our first fl2 on Saturday which is also our first 4x4. We went for an 08 hse auto after looking at loads in the Yorkshire area. Hope we've made the right choice.
I'm sure ill be asking for plenty more advice.

As like Wallyr, i get my first FL2 on Saturday. It is a TD4 S. Well we all have to start somewhere. Hope to add more posts as time goe on.
