So after an uneventful 100+ mile round trip to North Yorkshire yesterday afternoon, it all went wrong in the final 20 metres outside my house.

Iain, the neighbour gets his FL2 in and out with ease as he also has a patrol driven snow blower he clears the drive with! He certainly wins on the 'show off' front. |

Forget pride you came out of it ok,also i would always prefer a new wheel or something that unbolts and a new one bolted on than a body work repair, you were lucky i think. |

Sorry to hear that monkey, its alway more painful when you do the damage yourself. As for HDC, it does seem to be a bit fickle. A controlled movement from the top of hill, switch on HDC, ease forward and it works spotlessly. Switch it on when moving and release all pedals......and wait and see!! Sometimes it kicks in, other times nothing.

Best to stop and set up the car before negotiating any tricky bits....30 years of off roading has taught me that. Also set the HDC to slowest setting with cruise control buttons (on MY2013 at least) and ease down the hill. Feet off clutch and brake (strap them to your neck )

Went around a roundabout yesterday in the FL2 like Miss Daisy. The snow was falling heavily and I was in GGS mode. Could not believe iit when the car slid sideways front and rear (mainly). The slide stopped suddenly and I got on my way. Having looked this morning, I think/hope the slide was arrested by the tyres gripping and not the kerb. Had a look at the Scorpions this morning - all around 3 - 4 mm. Winter tyres next year for me ! FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

It's easy to be wise after the event but... if this ever happens again and you run wide SLOWLY towards a kerb, try and apply opposite lock so that the impact with the kerb is taken with the tyre (as close to straight on as you can) and not the rim. Only works (as it did for me) if slow enough not to mount the pavement having steereing into it!
