High pitched sound on locking

When I lock up the FL2 (2009 HSE TD4) and it is quiet I can hear a high pitched noise that seems to come from just behind the grille. It lasts for maybe 10 sec then there is sometimes a click like a flap opening or closing, then silence. No other noises and no problems with the car at all. I'm guessing its the alarm setting but have never experienced the like before.
Anyone here know what it might be?

Instant reply from a fellow owner in Australia!, the internet is indeed a marvellous place.
Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

I beg to differ Smile
It will be the electronic throttle flap re-setting on shutdown, it closes to stop 'juddering' and resets itself for a few seconds.

I see. Previous diesels of my acquaintance have had a kind of "death shudder" on switching off now you come to mention it. So this is a deliberate feature to prevent that from happening? This car is constantly amazing me.

Yes, its a good feature, here's a good explanation of it but this members 'throttle body' made too many noises Shocked
