Power steering pump pumping itself empty

Hello,

My power steering pump has starting to whine loudly at all times including tick over. All the power steering fluid Is being forced out the top of the reservoir within a matter of minutes. My car is a 2011 build with 16000 miles, I have just got it back after a clutch problem so am assuming the garage screwed something up.

Land rover assistance have come out and they think that the technicians have connected the pipework the wrong way round causing the system to pump the wrong way.

Does anyone know what would cause this?
Also will the rack be knackered and do I need to ask for various parts to be replaced.

Cheers.

Sounds like they could have trapped/crimped/crushed one of the pipes.

Oh dear, some one at the garage is in for a right grilling. If something has been removed for acess etc then a funtional test should of been carried out before the car was released, silly Censored .

Car was fine for couple of days, covered about 30 miles so far then just started whining on a straight road with no steering input. Do you think the rack will be knackered.

Dealer found a split power steering pipe at the back of the engine. Probably caused by them when they took the gearbox out. They have given me an spanking new autobiography range rover sport as a replacement so I can't complain to much. The rrs is more economical than the fl2 auto I got as a curtesy car the week before which is weird.
