I've read a few posts on different forums and while I think that my problem is clutch/DMF-related, I'd rather describe the symptoms here and get your views.

First noticed a judder when accelerating away from an island on a dual carriageway at the start of December - 3rd gear at around 2000rpm and a decent press of the right foot (but not flooring it). Felt like I was driving over a patch of rippled tarmac.

Tried the same acceleration at next island - same judder and I also noticed that the revs dropped away by 100-300rpm before recovering.

This is now apparent in 3rd, 4th, 5th and occasionally 6th. It does not occur when accelerating gently through the same rev range. I had thought it was a misfire (because of the drop in revs each time), but having searched t'internet, the clutch/DMF sounds the most probable.

Have taken it in to a trusted local garage, they've done a diagnostic and found no fault codes - I have not had any warning lights or messages in the vehicle. Vehicle has done around 44k miles. Life is a game - your bank balance is the scorecard

Slipping clutch, 44000 miles, not bad. mine did 52000 before the same thing happened and it was changed under warranty. around £1200 otherwise at LR

I have a rumble/ knock which is getting worse (at 68000 miles ) when I press the clutch pedal in n my 07 model 2.2gs.

I have had the occasional judder whenpullingoff but mainly when haven't used the car for a day or so and it's been wet ( I think).

I'm guessing the release Bearing on its way out. How long do I have - do you get notice of failure and what happens if it does fail before I get into a garage?

How hard a job is the clutch replacement? Usual stuff or needing a dealer?

Where's the best/ cheapest place to get the parts? For my VW van I got a clutch kit with dmf and clutch, can you get a kit for the fl?

Obviously trying to avoid a main dealer as out of warranty.

Firstly, welcome to the forum
Having said that, your clutch/dmf is showing all the classic slipping symptoms i'm sorry to say. I hate reading posts like this.

I see yours is a 2009?
Don't dispair yet.
Did you take out extended warranty? Or did you buy you car 2nd hand and it's under warranty?
If neither of those, I hope you've had the car serviced at the correct intervals at a main L/R dealer. If that's the case, take the car back to the main dealer to comfirm the clutch is slipping and needs replacing.
Then speak to L/R Customer Service; they really do try to help. Ask them what % of the repair bill that they will contribute.
Be pleasant, don't get yer 'air off with them. If they can help, they will. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

We seem to have several threads going at once here!

On the OP I would say that the revs dropping like that are not classic symptoms of clutch slip. The opposite i.e. the revs rising without increase in speed.
On the subjects of slip and the cost of putting it right it is my observation that having changed many clutches in the past on all sorts of cars that sometimes you will get a duff clutch but usually it is down to driving style/abuse/a lot of heavy towing.

If you want to avoid the wallet emptying experience of a main dealer doing it, find a local garage with a good reputation (word of mouth counts for a lot here) a good garage does not necessarily have to be a Land Rover specialist. The LR2 engine/clutch/gearbox is fitted to many different cars and will not surprise a good mechanic. As an example, our local Volvo independent specialist is very good at fixing Land Rovers.

In terms of parts prices, cast about a bit. When I put a new clutch in my TD5 Defender, LR were asking £260 for a clutch kit. The LR original supplier was Valeo. I bought a kit from a factor for £80. I forget what was on the box but when I took it out...lo and behold it was a Valeo! I also got a genuine DMF for £160. John

Must admit depends how you read the OP. I could well be wrong. By 'revs dropping away' i assume he meant he had the revs but with no increase in road speed, ie revs had no effect.
