Just a quick 300 mile later update. The car is still running perfectly. It seems to start alot easier and there is a lot less top-end clatter - it starts more like a petrol now. Haven't had a chance to calculate the MPG yet but it pulls like a train and interestingly, the acrid sour diesel smell you get when starting and shutting off has totally gone...

1) If your RR of that year was produced for the UK market it won't have a 'Diesel Particulate Filter'.
2) Because you most likely won't have a DPF then add FB mineral spec 2SO, if you have then use FC semi-synthetic spec.
3) Some say yes and some say its rubbish but ..... It has been accepted for post combustion in removing carbon build up and a more efficient combustion, but its questionable whether it will lubricate pre combustion components. Todays low sulphur diesel lacks the lubricating properties of old so its your choice if you think 2SO will help in this.

I don't use it but if I could buy it cheaply I would as it does no harm, can't find a Tesco that still offers it cheap.

If I can get FC spec at that price I'd buy a dozen and use it but cannot find it at my local. Even Tesco online tells me its not available. Confused

It's never been in store EY, just in the garages amongst the oils. The first two I got (they only had two) I assumed the price was wrong, but when she rang it up it was right. Then, I got some more (all they had at time) from Ipswich. I will keep an eye out if they still have it for that price next time I'm in a tesco garage.

Your VIN will confirm model etc. I am sure there will be a "wise one" on the RRS site who can confirm. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

I have been putting in 2-stroke oil at a ratio of 300ml per 60 litres for the last 3 tankfulls. Thus far, it is difficult to know if there is any significant change. Yes, the engine seems quieter, yes it pulls well, but it is only a matter of degree. Economy has started to improve lately, largely brought about by my driving pattern having changed over the Christmas break, with higher average speeds/motorway driving where I normally do rural/city driving. Only time will tell. I keep totally accurate fuel consumption records on spritmonitor.de (see my sig below), not relying on the OBC figures which can vary in accuracy. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
