Know one should ever try and guess what these test mules are. Far too many people comment on the fact that they don't like this or that on the spy shots like on this link.

It shows and proves nothing other than LR have bolted together a test vehicle. The actual model will not resemble anything like the spy shots.

I remember when the Freelander 1 was being developed and the test mule was based on a Maestro van! There were comments about it lookin too much like a Maestro!

Don't read too much in to it. Thumbs Up Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Somewhere (wasn't it here?) the development path of the LR models was posted. I think there was a longer version of the evoque shown. Couldn't it simply be that one?

edit: Found it, I meant this one here.

Interesting why Daily Mail would report on a motoring issue the dedicated car press haven't picked up on?

They have a lot of work to do on the F-Type before that goes on sale, before they come up with anything new with the amount I see broken down on the A46! Nearly ended up in the back of one last week! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

The Mail article is based on an article in Autocar, as is the 16-models graphic. There's a link to Autocar's item in the Mail article. I've also come across references to this elsewhere.

The roof and bonnet will be aluminium

That would cause problems for a lot of FL2 ownwers who are registered MSA radio operators on car rallies as most of us use
mag mounts for our radio aerials and the roof also acts as the ground plane.

Could use the old CB gutter mounts but they can damage the paintwork.

Suppose we will just have to wait and see what develops.

I go along with Mav71.
Those glass fibre panels and the lines/shapes painted on them are designed to ensure that you come to the wrong conclusion. They are very clever.
VM's sometimes deliberately make sure that motoring rag mags get a shot at a mule so they get it all wrong Thumbs Up

I remember the Daily Mail describing a hush project that I was working on.
They got it 100%..........................wrong Laughing Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black

I wouldn't believe any rubbish printed in the press or auto press, there was an article a few weeks ago about 16 new models before 2020 & one of those was a larger Evoque which I guess could also share the same full floorpan as a new Freelander?
Daily Snail are/were renouned for being less than honest re motoring facts.
I will believe it only when released from Landrover. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

Without giving too much away the replacement Freelander will have a new underbody built on a new line separate from current build. For those of you who have visited Halewood you will probably remember that the current FL2 & the Evoke are built through the same line although very different underbodies.

Re if Aluminium true, same goes for fishers with magnetic rod holders.....
Agree though, its all speculation and I do not believe anything in the Mail.... JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

Interesting to read that 3lander.
When we visited Halewood, i could still 'feel' the old Ford about the place. Whilst it was good to see the two old Vickers presses (1968 i think) still banging out panels, there were fork lifts everywhere; not very safe for either parts or employees.
I'd have thought a new line will have much needed automation. Investment on the inside reaps far more rewards than tarting up the exterior.

Long live Halewood and every other UK plant Thumbs Up
