2 years ago up here in the hills of wales (after dropping the wife off at work) I came across a driver with a BMW x5 stuck in a snow drift at the side of the road , being a friendly sort I offered to pull him out and back onto the road, after fixing the strops (carried 365 days a year !) gently got him back onto the firm stuff, as I was putting the strops away he came over to me and pulled out his wallet, and said "what do I owe you old Chap..! "
Nothing says I, you will need all your money to buy a LANDROVER that can handle the snow, and a good off- roading course to learn how to use it .. give your wife the BMW to take the kids to school in .

With a wave I was gone (in a shower of snow .... he he )

It's rural round here (Yorkshire Dales) and on the little roads it could be hours before another vehicle comes along. I would never leave anyone, would always offer assistance as best I could.

Pulled a couple back onto the road last year when I drove a Freelander 2. We both carry a decent tow strap in the car and a couple of shackles.

As the towing vehicle it is all down to you if damage occurs to either vehicle. TBH that is the least of my priorities, although I wouldn't put myself or the car in a situation where I thought it likely to get into bother.

Some of you are real miserable .

it was so bad here last night I got suckered into pulling up 9 cars in total.. Also met a guy that I helped last year, got to meet his whole family, and drove home one guy that tried to take a taxt home, but after driving off the road the taxi driver asked him to get out and push... Shocking
