When you returned was the car also unlocked? If so, it may be a problem with the remote button, if you press and hold the open button the doors will unlock and all the windows will drop, similarly if you have the keys in your pocket and inadvertently press the button.

And with me, usually when I'm carrying something heavy/bulky, although I usually seem to flash the lights at myself rather than unlock the car.

I had great fun a couple of years ago worrying some dodgy looking sorts from across the river in York city centre...the Freelander was on the side of the river and I was in a restaurant opposite and noticed them looking through windows. Cue alarm from the fob and headlights when they returned and were lingering in front of the car!

Hmmmm some thing springs to mind. Question? When your car is locked and you unlock it with the key. If theres no door opened with in a short time " cant remember how long of the top of my head" the car relocks its self.

That's very valid superspark, yes if they doors remain Unopened then it will re lock itself, I think it is 1 minute.

taztastic, Well that one mystery solved. Shame the windows dont go back up. It could be raining hard one night and in the morning everything is all wet.

As with a single lock the perimetric system is armed I imagine it would just be that, as two clicks are needed to am the volumetric system.
