What is the best speed to stick to in my fl2 diesel automatic on motorways to achieve the optimum mpg

Yup agree somewhere around 50 mph.

Just don't do 50mph on the motorway!

Agreed nothing worse than a car plodding along at 50-54 mph and a truck trying to over take at 55mph

I think 65 for mpg, but then 80+ mpg is good too, you travel at a lower mpg for less time so you still save money

Agree with pinky 80+ works for me, less time on the road equals fuel saved!

The sweet spot for my engine seems to be around 70 mph when the auto box is in 6th gear and just on 2,000 revs, just got 39 mpg fully loaded on a 900 mile trip mainly on motorways. Tony

Whenever I first get a car, I always pay attention to the MPG. But now, apart from looking at it now and then through curiosity (like seeing that my winter tyres are giving me 3mpg more), I switch the information to display something else.

I think paying too much attention to MPG detracts from the enjoyment of driving a car. If MPG is that big a deal, I doubt we would be driving a Freelander. I say, drive it in a way that you enjoy driving it, don't look at the MPG and just fill it up as required

Hope that didn't come across in a bad way.. It's just my view

MPG does not interest me, my display is always on 'RANGE' as I'm more interested in when I need to fill up.

If you're only interested in mpg, I'd suggest you use another route which exludes Mways for several reasons. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

if you're after optimum mpg then follow this advice, fill the tank to the brim, park it on the drive, then get the bus to work. You now have optimum MPG, you'll still have a tank full when you get home

tried all different speeds but 63 for an auto is best. get around 42-43 drops if I crusie at 55 as it wont sit in top and 70+ drinks it.

I have 370 mile round trip to see family and its all motorway so tried all types of speed. 63 for me.
