Bling????

My second post on this forum so forgive me if i get it wrong, I have tried searching but apart from one for sale I can find no information on what LR call a Stainless Steel Tailgate Latch Finisher nor have I seen one and as such cannot judge if it is bling or a usefull part.

I took delivery of my 08 HSE yesterday and love it my problem is I am a diver and can see that I am going to scratch up the upper surface of the rear bumper when I am kitting up so advice please do I get one of these latch finishers to protect the paintwork from the base of my cylinders or get a boot liner or even get both?

Thanks

Mark

IMHO what you describe you will be better off getting a boot liner with an extension that flops over the bumper to protect it from scratches, the above is a cosmetic piece rather than practical.

Somehting like this

The 'latch finisher' is the one above the rear bumper sill and level with the boot floor, personally I think whatever you skin it with, it will mark.
I would fit a dog bootliner with the flap that unfolds over the rear bumper.

EDIT: Posted the same time as Taz, must be good advice Laughing

Sorry Taz, but I have to disagree there...mine has the Bumper Piece (not the latch finisher) and the boot has had big steel 3phase Panel Boards in and out of it every day over the last couple of months, without as much as a ding or scratch...would hate to think what fate might have befallen my rear bumper had it not been fitted. Not sure why anyone would want the latch finisher personally, as it's expensive and hidden from view most of the time, but the Bumper Strip not only looks good, it offers practical protection as well. Foraging near Gaydon....

fl2 has the bumper finished anyway just in plastic, a steel wont wont 'protect' things much differently

get a RRS so you can lower the suspenders for easier access- not that I do as it too much trouble, (it can be set to lower off the key fob ) At work

Our '09 HSE has a black plastic finsher where the silver bling piece goes on the bumper.

It's not a substantial as the silver piece, but when I've been lugging stuff in and out of the boot it's always in the right place to protect the bumper.

For ultimate protection though +1 for the plastic liner Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

From what I can see the chrome finisher only replaces the black plastic finisher with the same amount of paintwork still exposed, I just have an old rug I chuck over the bumper when Im loading things that might scratch the paintwork, cost nothing, and nothings got scratched yet, plus its nice and warm to sit on whilst youre getting your kit off,

Black piece, shiny piece, it makes no difference, same size and same coverage.
You either lift it in (no damage) or drag/push it in (chance of damage), and the bumper downturn is still exposed unless it's covered by the bootliner flap or as said, an old rug.

As mentioned, the finisher doesn't protect the edge of the bumper.
I have two border collies jumping in and out and the pics below is my solution and after three years not one scratch Thumbs Up
