hi put 60.00 quid in diesel on sat took my tank up to between 3/4 full and just under full mark went from denton to oldham oldham to rawtenstall then rawtenstall to barnsley in yorkshire and back to oldham noticed on the way back that the fuel gauge had not moved very much if any nex morning started the car oldham to manchester gauge still at same point between 3/4 and just under full when comming home from work last night as i got near home fuel gauge suddenly changed to just over 1/2 a tank anybody had this before and what did the dealer do rainy-city

Either a software update, mine did it so I disconnected the battery for a few seconds. It seemed to solve it

Don't know if this is the same problem or not...

Filled up to brim about 3 weeks ago, guage showed full.
A week later the guage dropped overnight from 3/4 to just over 1/4 !.
Checked for leak & damage to filler cap thinking some little b d had siphoned the tank, but no damage or leak found.
Yesterday on starting the guage has shot back up to 3/4 full. The readout is saying 225 miles range, but I can't trust it now.

LR assist did two updates last month, and still under warranty so I see another trip to the dealer in the near future. Just hope they don't wash, hoover and then smear oil on door card and leave steering wheel greasey and sticky this time ! _________________

I had to have the fuel sender unit replaced tho - it wasn't cheap!

I did a quick search and saw your thread Sammie, but I'm still unsure if it's the same problem. Fortunately mine is still under warranty.
I must admit, having owned it for three months and this will be the second problem I'm starting to lose confidence in LR, which is a shame because I'm emotionally attached to it now.  _________________

Bit of an update...

As I couldn't trust the guage I have filled up and it took about 30 L which is close enough to what the guage was reading.
So it appears when the guage inexplicably dropped over half a tank overnight, then went back up again a week later, it was merely returning to where it should have been.


My extensive automotive engineering experience leads me to one conclusion...my car had a brain fart. _________________
