Looking for 'excellent' sound- been put off by how many on sale!!!
Listened to one that looked good a 'Pure' buy sound very disappointing
Any suggestions/and Why ?

Bit more then £130 but the Bose is the one I've got and it sounds great. They start at £190 to £300.

is this for in the car or elsewhere?

About 3 yrs ago I bought a Klipsch igroove. Although it can't quite match the BW zeppelin, it comes close sound wise to the Bose and pound for is certainly better value for money. Also, it's well within your budget.

I've got the B& W zeppelin and there isn't anything to compare for sound quality. It's about £300 mind but well worth it. Ralph

+1 for the Klipsch Igroove, I bought one about 4 years ago and whilst its no BOSE in terms of quality of sound for £56.49 its bloody good!! (see Amazon website - only 2 left!) Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

I have Bose Wave radio and that's sounds ok when I plug my iPhone in with a aux lead

I bought them from Amazon for less than £100. I come from the school of "if the base don't make your ears bleed it ain't worth having" when it comes to sound systems. For the money the bass bin rocks! John

Ive got a bose portable sound dock 2 and cant fault it i'm sure there is lots of good alternatives i've heard a few nice sony 360 degree speakers but at least with bose you know what your paying for. Its like a nissan quashi thing or a land rover  When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

i have just bought a ruark R2i, superb sound and build quality,

I've only ever tried the B&W Zepplin. It is fantastic. However, the power supply failed on it 2 months after the warranty ran out a week before Christmas last year. I emailed B&W customer services about it.
Their response was the best customer support experience you could ever wish for. They picked up the Zepplin from my door (even offered to send original packaging so that it was packaged ok), sent me emails almost every day apologising profusely for having the fault in the first place and also for not being able to return it before Christmas day! When I did get it back they had taken the liberty of replacing anything that was marked or worn and also provided another warranty. It was picked up, repaired and returned in about a week and that was with Christmas in the middle! It cost me nothing and the Zepplin was as good as new with a new warranty!
If I could afford any other B&W equipment I wouldn't hesitate.
