United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Manual Orkney Grey
Freelander 2 engine options

I ran a 160ps 07 plate Freelander 2 for four years and decided to replace it after 82000 miles. I prefer a manual gear box and so settled for a 150ps HSE on 14000 miles. Yesterday driving from Wasdale over the tops I felt it was under powered with a lack of torque. Why can you get a manual Evoque with the SD4 engine with 190ps and not the Freelander ? Sad but I`m having a rethink.

I recently changed my car from a 56 plate SE 160 PS to a OY60 150PS TD4e, and it too felt underpowered.
the dealer diagnosed a faulty haldex / pump, and replaced some bits.

now it is fine........

I haven't driven a new 150...but the figures suggest that the 150 accelerates quicker than the old 160 as it has slightly more torque? Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Driven both and you're right. Torque is the same for both 150 and 190 bhp engines at 420Nm.

i realy cant believe that you find the 150bhp engine under powered i have got a manual 150 bhp engine and ive got bags of grunt at the lower revs as well as top end i find 2,3,4,th gears you get the best out of the engine may be you have a problem that may be affecting the peformance Thumbs Up rainy-city

maybe there is a faulty turbo ? or electronic throttle ? When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car
