Loss of power steering fluid...

Like the subject states, I noticed i was right at the minimum line for the power steering fluid. I see no signs of leaks anywhere. (Is there a specific spot I should look for?)

I filled the reservoir back up with Pentosin CHF202 and so far I have not seen the level drop. It has been 4 days. I must admit that i do not check the fluid levels every week. i do maybe every month and a half.

Any input?

I have an i6 petrol engine BTW.

Thank you. Cuatro Por Cuatro

I had a similar issue 12 months ago when mine dropped half way to low level. It was still within warranty so took it to main dealer. They topped it up and checked for leaks but reported non found. I asked them to remove under tray and check again - which they did - still nothing found. Maintained full level since. Silver 2009 HSE

Interesting... It can't just disappear so I wonder what is happening to it.
I hope mine doesn't do it again like yours did.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Cuatro Por Cuatro

Squeeze the rubber gaiters on the steering arm, it's gathering in there, and means a new steering rack.

Ours left my mum stranded one night miles from home when it was 2 days old after having this problem. I took it back the day we got it as the fluid was barely in the reservoir. They filled it and said it was an air lock as found no evidence of leakage. I was sceptical to say the least.

It took 3 weeks to get a new one in from LR, and strained relations with my dealer for a number of reasons, which up until then had been good!! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

I had the same issue, topped up the fluid and it's been fine ever since.

I haven't noticed the level dropping any more, no leaks nothing Confused

Last time I filled up was about 6 months ago, that was the only time I had to fill it up....

When I filled it up I went slightly over the maximum level just in case Thumbs Up

If it's just the once, and only dropped half an inch or so in the reservoir then it could be that the wheels are turned slightly compared with the previous time you checked. Ours does fluctuate now and again slightly.

Apologies for worrying you...didn't read your original post properly! I doubt youve got the big problem we had as all the fluid would have disappeaared out the reservoir Thumbs Up Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
